Is it a real newspaper with reporters and everything or you collect news from other newspapers and put them on your website?

Hi Sotos

It's a combination of both. We have one full-time reporter/editor (and hope to grow enough to hire more), and source news from various online and offline agencies.

It's our aim not to repeat the same stories you'll find in other papers, and to take a regional perspective that most local papers seem to miss out on.

We also aim for good writing and presentation. Gradually we want to have as much original material as possible.

Pity we have lost Pumpernickle (before your time, Sarah) he was a failed/aspiring journalist and would have provided some 'interesting' material, as he did he - before he got himself banned!

all the best to the new newspaper.
but , you will need the resources to have more than one person if u want to compete with the rest - and achieve the uniqueness you are after. whether we like it or not , stupid money do make a difference.

I am afraid that this website is very amateur. You will need a lot of work! Good luck! :)

Thanks all for the good wishes and feedback. We'll concentrate on getting good content first, and then improving the overall look and technical infrastructure.

Right now, the focus is on good, well-written stories, not hype and fluffy stories that competitors distribute. I've been a journalist for over 10 years (trained as one as well), and I think it's time for quality stories told from an objective perspective instead of the thinly disguised political agendas that are passed off as news on the island.

Nooooo!!!! Pumpy gone - that is such a shame!!! He was a real asset to this forum.

Seriously though how can you ban Pumpy while allowing the political and sexual extremists to carry on insulting each other?

Cyprusgrump is an excellent writer although he probably won't admit it. Read his BBQ post on the jokes and enigmas section - so well written and very funny (not that I want to pick out curtains or anything!!)
