TURKISH GREEK BLACK & WHITE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Thu Jun 29, 2006 12:16 pm

That is good Miltiades, please give me your contact phone and we will definately meet.

The Natty of old was at university in Greece two-three years ago. Gennaris was daft in London. He subscribed to the conspiracy theories and I remember him knocking our door very late at night trying to impress every one by telling us that this would be the last time he would see us because he was being sent on a mission to Greece (during the dark junta era). Anyway, may be he has grown wiser, but I can never condone his attitude as a journalist to always play the fiddle of the ruling cast.

Oh well thats not me i'm afraid :) So he was involved in the Junta? I was wandering, Which conspiracy theory's did he prescribe to? Sorry for asking you can tell me to mind my own business I fyou want....:), I guess i'm just quite intrigued by this...his book basically tells of Turkey's involvement in the 'Cyprus Problem', the information he uses seem pretty legite, TC newspaper cuttings and so on....

Peace!! :)

That is okay, no fuss. Gennaris has been quite egocentric and he supposedly was anti junta and basically wanted us younger at the time students to be amazed by his anti junta struggle. I am pretty certain he did not actually do anything worth mentioning that was detrimental in any way to the junta.

First it was the Americans that "Bastardized" the English language, but now is the Europeans. I have a hard time relating to the message, when it's written in the above format. Maybe it's good for mobile texting, but makes terrible reading on the PC. If you must write in that fashion, then please keep them short. No offence intended. Thanks.

Many apologies Kikapu, from now on when addressing issues which are directed towards you I shall only write in the best way possible :D

Its just one of those things where you do as you are used to :)

You're too kind miltiades :)

A question, bananiot...Is the book worth reading? I kno alot of books that are to do with the Cyprus issue are no more than propaganda written by the hands of fascists and religious zealots and end up being way too biased towards one side or the other to be classified as accurate educational literature...

Kartal_Aetos wrote:malaka, its people like you why i insist the turkish troops remain in cyprus until there is a peaceful resolution...

i guess ur one of the people who follow the Megali ideal seeing as ur such a turk hater...what would u rather have, my friend? Enosis? or maybe just complete rule of cyprus by GC's...

The reason why the troops are there is not because of us TC's but infact because of ur beloved Makarios and the likes for their "struggle" plan...

There is no need to challenge the presence of an army which u urselves have caused to come to the island in the first place...

here, read General Grivas' book for urself...Grivas, Memoirs, (Longmans, London, 1964)

or maybe u wanna read Zenon Stavrinides, Cyprus Conflict, National Identity and Statehood

or maybe UN document S/8286

or is the fact that they are books written by greek leaders not enough? here's one from a british leader: Full Circle, The Memoirs of Sir Anthony Eden

when u've learnt a little about why that army is there in the first place, then come back and argue with me why I should trust YOU

The only reason the Turkish troops are there is beacuase Turkey insists on land grabbing and ethnic cleansing Is that why you insist they stay there. Heck you probably live in my house we dont want you having to get out now do we

Dont beleive everything you read Greek or Turkish
What makes you think I need to earn your trust?
Since you think you know it all answer me this.
Why are there thousands and thousands of settlers arived?

1- we needed to restore our infrastructure...we needed builders, doctors, engineers etc. after the war > settlers
2- YOU probably live in MY house too...it works both ways but ur too arrogant to see that
3- Ethnic cleansing was started by EOKA long before turkish army intervened but its always nicer to see ur own terrorists as angels and blame everything on the other side isnt it
4- what makes me think u need to earn my trust is that unless i trust u, we can't live together = no resolution...but what do u care, ur going to have majority status...its not like ur future will ever be in jeopardy will it...

if u still insist that the turkish army where there for ethnic cleansing long before EOKA, read the books i told u to read...im sure u'll learn sumfin new...hell, im sure u'll learn something ABOUT CYPRUS...
