TURKISH GREEK BLACK & WHITE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Natty » Sun Jun 11, 2006 10:16 am

Hi! I am a greek cypriot and I feel that people should not be ashamed or scared to celebrate there heritage! I have a greek heritage that i am extremely proud of, and because of this a natural connection with modern greece, but I am not saying that I would want cyprus to be part of greece.....Why should the Turkish Cypriots not celebrate there Turkish heritage, we as cypriots should rejoice and embrace these two cultures! The greek culture and the Turkish culture have both influenced each other!! As well as other cultures in the med and elsewhere! Modern day greece and Turkey are new ideas, do you not think that there were ethnic, or infact still are ethnic Turks in greece, or vise versa, ethnic greeks in Turkey?? I eat Turkish and greek food, I listen to greek, cypriot music which is quite similar to Turkish music, infact the T/c and G/c music is basically the same! There are so many different regions in both greece and Turkey, and they all have slight differences depending on where you are....and not just in greece and Turkey, but in other county's for example spain. In fact there are T/C who have greek heritage, everything is mixed! As well as my Greek heritage, i also ahve my cypriot heritage, which i share with the T/C a fact of which I am so proud of!!! I really can't imagine not being a Cypriot!! I am greek, but above all i am cypriot!! Yes I did support Greece in the euro, just as I'm sure the Turkish Cypriots supported Turkey when they got to the semi-final of the world cup (can you tell i have football fever????!!?? LOL!) However I still felt sad that I was unable to support Cyprus, my mother land!!!

Malaka I like your honesty, its more honesty that we need, get everything out of the closet then we can start talking about improving relations.

Currently we have this situation....

Oh I really love Greeks we always have got along just like our grandparents, were quite close, we all love each other, its so great being buddies and loving each other oh I love it arn't Greeks and Turks jus the best of friends

or

or

Were all Cypriots, Cyprus is our

Lets stop lying to each other.

Were all lied to as little kids and told the other side is "bad", its tragic but a reality.

I never forget when this Greek guy told me,

"When I was little my mum used to say GET TO SLEEP OR THE TURKS WILL COME, I would hide under my covers and try to go to sleep as quickly as possible"

Now while were telling little kids stories like this and brainwashing them were really not gonna get anywhere.

I say

BLAME THE PARENTS, BOTH GREEKS AND TURKS BOTH AS BAD AS EACH OTHER, OVER-THE-TOP EMOTIONAL NUTTERS

WTF R YOU ON MAN MUST BE GOOD STUFF SHARE IT ROUND 8) 8) 8)

I will fight you not a problem   just dont bring 1000 turks with you then say you kicked my ass cause that is the only way u win by choosing battles you can not lose

I wont cry cause i will not lose. I wil kick your ass BIG TIME

Bravo Michalis...

Cyprus is Cypriot...We need to stop thinking of ourselves as Turkish or Greek...We are all brothers on this island...wether u like it or not, the communities have mixed over the centuries...I doubt there is many cypriots who can trace their family line back 200 years without finding out that there has been someone from the opposite side in their family line...lets not forget, we lived as brothers before...there is no reason apart from fascists brainwashing our youths with murder stories that we cant live as brothers once more...

I agree with you kartal. I just dont think the leaders on either side are willing to work on this. I think both sides are too proud and stubborn. I hope one day soon we can all live together in peace.

its not proudness, stubborness...forget all that...they do not come in to play in politics...The problem is who is GC's "shadow president"? The church...who is the TC's "shadow president"? The military

would an Orthodox institute accept to be seen as equals with Muslims? no! for centuries they have taught the people non-Christians go to hell...non-christians are the lesser...non-christians dont deserve the love of God...and then to live as equals??? My God, the papa would sooner stick nine inch nails through his eyeballs and bleed for eternity than to one day call a muslim his brother...

Would a military regime who has for decades told lies about the evils of GC's like to live among the "evil" people??

Their lies would be unfoiled...their herd would lose all trust for both...

Fascist pigs

And at the end of it who mourns the fate of the island?

The TC mother who lost her son in a war that wasnt her own

The GC mother who lost her son in a war for which she did not support...

Well I guess sometimes a new point of view is helpful. I can see the point in a lot of what you say. I will have to think about it more closely.
