TURKISH GREEK BLACK & WHITE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby MR-from-NG » Thu Apr 27, 2006 6:03 pm

I think we all have a pretty good idea of the real meaning of independence. Can you really say that the ROC is independent? the same for Greece. In the case of the ROC you are answerable to Greece and Brussels. As for Greece it is answerable to Brussels as well as Washington.

In my opinion none of the EU members are enjoying independence in the true sense of the word.

Nobody encourages the flying of the Greek flag in Cyprus... it is done by Greek Cypriots because we are Greeks and we do not see the Greek flag as a symbol of the Greek state but as a symbol of Hellinism as a whole wether living in Greece, Cyprus, USA, Brazil, Austarlia etc.

Sorry but you got all things confused in your mind. The Fact that Greek flags flying on the island is 100% ILLEGAL According to the agreements signed in 1960. Nowhere in the constitution of the ROC signed in 1960 the flying of such flags are encouraged! This is 100% illegal and this is the reason the cyprus issue is so hard to be solved because it is based on ILLEGALITIES.

In the same sense we sing the Hellenic national anthem. Greece never wanted to occupy Cyprus, it let Cypriots decide for themselves(Only exception can be considered the works of the Junta but this again was done in co operation with Cypriots and it was considered high treason by the Greeks who jailed those traitors for life)... Greek Cypriots back in the 50s wanted the unification of Cyprus with the Greek state. Greece has also helped a lot economically Cyprus to rebuild as an independent state asking nothing in return after the invasion of Turkey.

The Hellenic national anthem is another Illegality. But If you consider the Greek Flags and the helenic national anthem as legal then I have no reason to consider the 40 000 troops on the island as illegal at all. These are also LEGAL To protect the INDEPENDENCE of the republic . Otherwise now Cyprus would not exist at this point of time. It would have been a POOR GREEK ISLAND like Crete and Rhodes and nothing else in 1974.

GREECE helping the ROC financially ? Please provide some sources and some financial indicators for all of us to see and compare? Can you do that to claim your argument?

We fly the Greek flag because we are memebrs of the Greek Community of Cyprus as described by the constitution and because it is our constitutional right from the declaration of independence at 1960.

IGNORANCE Again. Nowher in thge consitution excourages the flying of the Greek flags . The Greek national anthem and the Greek flags are both Illegal acording to International Laws

Language and religion have never described Nationality at all . Otherwise the English would have been considered as Americans and vice versa.

Thanks for reading

You are making a very wrong claim here! Better read the constitution again, before speaking in such absolutist ways and manner! The Greek and Turkish flags are explicitly permitted in the 1960 constitution in all private places (including schools run by each community.) The only places, in which they were not permitted, are RoC government buildings, something which holds true even nowadays. No government building is flying the Greek flag.

What do you understand by the term Independence? Can you please give me a definition of this term. In order to speak with the same language.

Thanks

Every UN member country is regarded, recognised and termed by international law as an independed and a sovereign one, according to the Charter of the UN. This is also why the Turkish invasion in 1974 was an illegal act, despite the existence of the 1960 treaty of guarantee that gave to the guarantor powers the right of unilateral intervention.

These all are definitions of Independence:

1)Independence is fully autonomous self-government of a nation by its residents and indigenous population, generally exercising sovereignty.

2)For most countries, this entry gives the date that sovereignty was achieved, and from which nation, empire, or trusteeship

3) the creation of a new nation state which is self-governed rather than ruled by another country. Kenya gained independence from Britain in 1963

4)authority of self-government unrestricted by any constitutional control by another state[/i]
