The site is cyprusmedianet.com and it was originally created by Cambridge Foundation for Peace and funded by UNOPS.

It was created as a bi-communal project and it was supposed to translate Greek and Turkish Cypriot press in Greek, English and Turkish.

This site stopped functioning properly many months ago but it remained in my bookmarks.

Today I accidentally went to this website again and to my surprise it was hijacked by Turkish Cypriots and it is now serving Turkish propaganda. The domain is now registered on a Turkish Cypriot and only news in English and Turkish are available.

What is truly immoral is that those people have maintained the original design and they still claim that their website is part of the Cambridge Foundation for Peace and funded by UNOPS! They even continue to have [email protected] ( the Cambridge Foundation for Peace email) as a contact email!

What made me realize the scum immidietly was that now in the sidebar they have links to some "north Cyprus forum" where the main section is about "Property, Real estate etc... "!! Those people hijacked a bi-communal website to use it for illegal criminal actions.

I believe the Cambridge Foundation for Peace and UNOPS should be contacted right away. I at least hope that they have nothing to do with this and it was just a mistake from their part that they allowed such thing to happen.

I'd be very surprised if the website was hijacked at all. There doesn't seem to be much activity or updating on the site, last current news is dated the 29th of March.

They probably gave up on the idea of peace in Cyprus and are just letting the Turkish guys involved to do as they wish. I am sure there would be Greek contributors to the site, why not email them and ask for an explanation. Please give us an update if you do contact them.

And why should a website that was created as an independent bi communal website by UNOPS be given to Turkish Cypriots? That website had many links and received a lot of traffic because of what it used to be.

If the people that managed the site were total fools and they could not pay the 8 dollars per year to keep the domain, this doesn't mean some others that took the domain can keep the same design and claim that the propaganda website they run is part of the Cambridge Foundation for Peace and funded by UN!!
