Yeah, I believe when Cyta say it's not wireless it's because they haven't updated their call centre with the new details. Is like in the UK with NTL when they used to say XP was not supported with my cable modem. Well of course it worked (it was the one NTL *gave* me themselves and the engineer setup with my XP machine!), they just didn't know how to support it. At the end of the day the speedtouch one has a great big antenna sticking out of the top of it! Oh, and all ports and wireless worked out of the box for me (I currently have all 4 ports used up). Note that MiVision uses a port, but just get a decent ethernet switch if you want more (I split MiVision with a media streamer I own and didn't want to use wireless on and everything works fine).
As for getting into the modem settings I couldn't get in because it was asking for a username and password. In the end I phoned Cyta who wouldn't tell me it over the phone. In the end a bloke actually turned up at the door with it written on a piece of paper. Seems a bit over the top. As it happens I never bothered as when you try to get to the more advanced settings (when it asks for the login and password) then it says it will wipe current settings before continuing. No thanks (I need it for my job). Thought I needed to change 54g settings at the time, but turns out I don't need to now, so I went no further. Anyone know what actually happens if you continue? Don't want to have any downtime basically.
As for the modem itself, I generally get it stuffing up quite often. Seems it cocks up with the DNS server (downloads and links to things like Skype still run, but websites do not appear) every now and again. Just needs to reset the modem. But lately this seems to be every other day. A little annoying. Plus everytime you do it then MiVision normally completely has an eppy. Sometimes changing the channel will refresh it, and sometimes using the power button on the remote to reboot it will work, but most times you have to unplug from the power to restart it. Plus without going into the advanced settings I don't know how good it can be. My old Linksys was pretty good, with even some homebrew firmware to improve things (such as broadcast strength which could be set to a level where you always got a really good signal).
Cheers
