Cyta's new "wireless" ADSL modem

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Is there a hack/mod to uncap upspeed on the CyTA modems? There was one in the UK for the Motorola Surfboard, so wondering if there is one for these modems that CyTA provides?

Jus to recap, the way to access the routers config, is

set your ip address on your pc to 192.168.1.x (x= a number except 1)
load internet explorer
open the page 192.168.1.1
username and password are Admin (capital A)

i messed about with mine and enabled the wireless etc but no joy in making an internet connection via the router, it is default set to pass through modem.

when you mess up the settings and cant access the internet, press the reset button on the router and it will be ok, don't forget to reset your ip address to DHCP.

Still begs the question, why issue a wireless router? the technology is there, and surely more expensive than a standard router, so although it may look impressive, it also shows a dicatator type company (similar to 3G for anyone in the uk) which gives you the technology and hardware, but restricts it so you can't use it.

I have been looking at the posts in this forum. also I have been trying to set up a model DSL-904 ADSL wireless router brought from UK without success. I have the Manual in English but attempts to use it in place of the CYTA modem have resulted in loss of connection when I return to use there modem. On one occasion I had to get them to reconnect me. No one has suggested going into command prompt. ipconfig /all which gives the set up DMS values. And no posts on the subject since last April any further help would be much appreciated.

P.Perks, you can not use your router instead of the Cyta modem. You have to use the cyta modem to get a connection and you can use a router IN ADDITION to the Cyta modem. Or you can hack the Cyta modem to make it function as a router and wireless but why do that when you can buy a good Linksys router for 40 pounds? ;)

Be careful about that P.Perks. Should you recieve any errors on your line, CyTA will try to log onto "their" modem. They will notice that the MAC address on the dslam port you are connected to isn't a MAC address of one of their modems, meaning they will run around like headless chickens for a couple of days before sending an engineer to your house to investigate. They WILL charge a callout fee (think its £20).

Personally, I would use their modem and ask the ISP to open up ports that you want open.

We should mention that today (2007) Cyta offers the new SpeedTouch modem that allows up to 4 stations to access the same connection via RJ45 ports (cross-over cables needed) plus wireless support.

Why you don't post it here?

How are the ports that the ISP blocks related with the modem? Can you unblock them by changing the router?
