Gutted!

OK so there is a business element involved. I guess there had to be, at least, a semi-rational explanation. I still think there's a way to solve this problem, especially as the CYTA technitian hinted that some people had managed to "work around" the feature, or rather lack of.......

Given the options avaliable:

1)Use CYTA's support.............yeah right!
2)Use a manual thats in a language that is, unfortunatley, beyond my grasp.
3)Tap into a hands-on knowledge base here in the forums.

I'm thinking the first option is a non-starter. The second option, although technicaly possible is, as I said, beyond me. So it leaves option three. I recon I'll get more sense, information and definatley more help here.

So...........any help would be great.

thanks, Jez

The logic is that if you want more than one computer connected you have to upgrade to their "business" packages

Huh? I'll better just go and by my own router to connect it to the modem and share the connection between as many computers as I want. By the way, even their technician told me some time ago to leave modem as it is and just buy the router if I need it - and no single word about business packages.
2)Use a manual thats in a language that is, unfortunatley, beyond my grasp.

I've used english manual in my case and it didn't help a lot. The only thing left is to try to reset the modem and reconfigure it using the default password.

Buy a cheap router, from telephone socket to CyTA modem, connect a patch cable from the CyTA modem to the router then you can connect 4 computers via the router, no need for upgrading to the business package.

As for activating the wireless connection, I'll see what I can find out :)

These are photos of the the underside of the modem with all the numbers ETC. Hope it helps.

Also, I found out last night that my Bro in law is also researching the issue so I'II keep you all informed of his findings as and when they turn up.

Thanks again guys. Its good to know CYTA are not the only ones we can ask for help.

Its friday so kick back and relax.

Hi Sotos,

It's very easy to get two computers connected on the same i-choice. Just get yourself a Wi-Fi router and conect its output port to one of the input ports on the CyTA modem.

You can then plug your computers into the input ports of the router or if it's a Wi-Fi model, you can connect them by wireless.

I've got this setup myself using a Linksys router that I'm plugged in to - my wife has a Wi-Fi card in her laptop,

Accessing ADSL

Postby @lexis » Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:14 am

For the modem shown:

1) PC must be set with:
IP: 192.168.1.x
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
(No internet access here, so change back to old settings later)

2) Point browser to 192.168.1.1
User/Pass: Admin/Admin

I also have english manual.

I have a router as well ;) Cyta is just trying to make it harder for us by disabling some ports on their modems. But now buying a good router is very cheap and I am sure it does the job better than their modem. @lexis, would that work in the non wireless version to open up the rest of the ports? And I know that Mivision is working on higher bandwidth than 1Mbit. Is there any way to make the modem work on Mivision speeds for internet?
