Britain and the Invasion

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Britain and the Invasion

Postby twinkle » Mon Mar 20, 2006 4:57 pm

I just have a question.

If Cyprus is part of the commonwealth, why didn't the UK do anything when Turkey invaded? Would they sit back as they have done if Canada was invaded by the US or Australia by Japan??

Serious question, just want to know the answer!

Thanks for your reply Pumpernickle. I did actually want an intelligent reply and thought this was a forum where you could discuss matters, but seeing as you have the intellect of a mental midget we'll leave it at that.

UK was/is responsible to guarantee the independence and sovereignty of Republic of Cyprus, not because of commonwealth, but because of the Guarantor Treaty that they signed to get in return their bases.

However the British got the bases and they did nothing to protect RoC. Not to mention that today they side with the Turks to continue the violation of that treaty.

If they didn't want to be a guarantor anymore then they should have at least returned the bases to RoC.

Twinkle, the Cyprus Forum is the worst place in the world to ask for a balanced and accurate recounting of that particular episode in history. Trust me, all you'll get is pages of ludicrous worthless poo from both sides.

Just go hire a book from the library and swot up yourself, you'll not get any impartial info here on the Cyprus Problem

Unless you ask me of course, in which case I'll fill you in perfectly well.

if I can be bothered that is, and if I see you as an individual worthy of me spending precious skin cells on my finger tips.

Simple, anybody over the age of 6 would know that the intervention of Turkey was legal and with the blessing of all three guaranteurs. TURKEY, GREECE AND THE UK.
