Those that buy GC property in occupied Cyprus are criminals

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Those that buy GC property in occupied Cyprus are criminals

Postby Sotos » Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:39 am

I see many people that illegally bought Greek Cypriot properties in occupied Cyprus to come in this forum to provoke us. In the announcements forum I found this rule:

Promotion of anything illegal is prohibited.

So I ask: Since buying Greek Cypriot property in the occupied Cyprus is illegal shouldn't these people be banned from this forum? This is a forum about how we can solve the Cyprus problem. Those people are foreigners that don't love Cyprus. Probably they pray that the Cyprus problem will never be solved so they will not lose their investment. Why are these people in the Cyprus Problem forum? :x

Sotos
I think that I share many of your views, but regrettably 'banning' people from the Forum will not solve any problems - indeed, it will almost certainly create new problems.
Surely, if the Forum is used as it should be, to promote and encourage lively and impassioned debate, then this will have more chance of advancing any ideas for change ?
If we only have a limited number of people all agreeing on the same topic, then what is the point ???
I wish the land in the North to be returned to its rightful owners, but by simply ignoring any other arguments on this topic it will not happen ; there must be open and two-sided dialogue.
We amy not always hear what we wish to hear, but at least all sides will be equally represented and an informed decision may ( I stress the word 'may' ) be possible .
Best wishes,

I don't have a problem if Turkish Cypriots say their point of view. This is desirable. But these foreigners that bought Greek Cypriot property in occupied Cyprus have no place here. They don't want a fair solution to be found because if this happens they will loose their investment. This forum and Cyprus would be match better off without them. If they want to participate they should at least stop provoking us and stop promoting illegal things.

Sotos, you are right. There was a thread which now looks to be one of the biggest, which adevrtises the date and venue of a property buyers meeting in the occupied areas. "Home buyers pressure group".

This thread is promoting something illegal.

As a potential buyer in Cyprus (moving in 2007) I have very quickly come to the decision that even though North Cyprus is a lot cheaper than South Cyprus I would in no way wish to buy a property there because of the history.

It is possible however that North Cyprus buyers do this out of ignorance rather than greed as the property agents are very 'hard sell'.

As far as the buyers are concerned they are getting a fantastic house for less money. Immoral to the poor Cypriots who have been turfed out but understandable - we are all human. It is not about deliberate provokation.

I only know of the problems after extensive research on the web. They wouldn't exactly have big banners saying "evil people buy homes in North Cyprus' at the overseas home exhibitions in the UK or in the property magazines.

Bollocks.

Every day people go on IWOT.com and buy an acre of the moon for fifteen quid. Does that mean aliens are gonna turn up by the end of the millenia to say 'oi, that moon's mine, this is illegal!'

I'm sorry, but since when has the UN been empowered with the ability to enforce international law?

International Law aint worth the paper it's written on because there is no enforcement body. It's all up in the air. The strongest country in the world can have a go (the US) but that has proved to be almost impossible also.

So saying 'it's illegal' is a bit of a waste of time.

the ECHR is a talking shop. Governments feign at enforcing sh1t, but ultimately, if you want things to get dealt with under Euro law, you need to get off yo lazy punk asses, get a lawyer and spend the next 6 years going grey waiting for the outcome.

It aint worth it in terms of money spent on 'Just for Men'.

Ok, so law courts are a way of solving individual grievances, but the ECHR aint getting northern cyp back for the bubbles, simple as that.

I dont know about the 'case of leonides'. Maybe next time I'm browsing for Agatha Christie novels in Academic and General, I'll pick up a copy.
Although I am somewhat tied up presently by a spiriting novel called: "Watching paint dry" by Bo. Ring Canute.

Just read my sh1t, agree with me, and sleep easy knowing that you now have full possession of the facts.

I am a genius.
