Looking for job

Postby andzia.83 » Mon Mar 13, 2006 3:25 pm

Hi, I am from Poland and I am going to go to Cyprus in Summer. I'd like to find job as a waitress there. Are there any job agencies wchich could help me find job in Cyprus or where in internet can I find some job adverts? I would also like to find some cheap room for rent before I will have got there. How expensive it can be? How much can wairess earn there?

Cesc Andzia. Jak Sie masz? I'm afraid thats about as far as my Polish goes. Anyhow, do you have a town in mind of where you would like to stay?

There's an agency called Stalagmite who alot of Polish people use. http://www.jobincyprus.com/english/

Another idea is to go to your local travel agency, pick up a brochure for Cyprus, then have a look at the hotels in that brochure. Give the hotel a call and see if they have anything going for you. By doing that, you know you are applying to a hotel where Polish people go, so you can still speak your mother language to some of the guests which should help you settle in a little bit more :)

Good luck.
Na Ra

Translation is "hello, how are you?" and Na Ra means "good bye"

I really hope you find success Andri.

I cannot offer great advice, but I think that Paphos could be a good place to look for work. I have met a few Polish people who work in hotels there, so could be the way forward.

all the best.

Czesc Andri

Mrs Tuberider is also Polish so I know a few words (very few) !

In Limassol a lot of Poles stay at the Silva hotel. They charge between 200-250 pounds per month for a room. It's not the best hotel but it's cheap. The owner is a Polish lady, she even opened a small Polish pub in the back of the hotel but it didn't do too well.

There is also the Drakos Hotel Apartments which charge 200 pounds per month for a room.

Work in the summer should not be too hard to find. However be careful. Many Cypriot men see eastern and central european girls as nothing more than sex objects, and if you get a job at the wrong place you could find yourself in a very sticky situation. Prostitution here is rife and is accepted as normal - we have brothels next door to schools here and noone complains.

Best to find work in a hotel where you will avoid these types of people.

Good luck,
Tuberider

Good luck, you will need it.

There are plenty of jobs of the type you are looking for in areas already mentioned.

Realistically though your wages are likely to be pathetic, you will be lucky if you earn more than one to two pounds an hour.
Don't worry too much about accomodation 'cos you'll be working such long hours you won't have time to go sleep.
