Flights to Cyprus

Postby charliechoice » Sun Mar 12, 2006 2:48 pm

I am looking to book a flight to Cyprus (preferably Larnaca) leaving either Birmingham/Manchester on the 19th March and returning on the 23rd March. I have tried most airlines and all i can find are indirect flights via Amsterdam. Could anyone recommend where I might find a suitable flight.

Regards Charlie.

One of the biggest threats to Cyprus tourism has to be the lack of availability in airlines. I'm trying to arrange for a small group to travel there from Switzerland and the only direct flights are by Cyprus Airways which are ridiculously expensive. In-fact, the price they quoted me for the group was higher than just making a reservation via their website. Bizarre logic.

Have been through dozen of low-cost airlines pages and none of them fly to Cyprus but to loads of other destinations and sunny islands. Why come to Cyprus when the price of a ticket is the same as flying halfway around the world to Thailand and cheaper destinations?

Hi Bakala,
thanks for the information, but unfortunately they don't fly from Birmingham/manchester during March. I agree it is quite strange the fact that Cyprus is such a well established tourist place and yet flights are so hard to come by ! I think it is easier to get to Bulgaria, so I think I will just have to bite the bullet and book the indirect flight.

Many thanks Charlie

Hey Charlie

You may already have tried this, but British Airways operate a limited service from manchester to Paphos with their Franchise Partner GB Airways . They fly out on the 19th, but the only options are to return on either the 22nd or the 26th.

Good luck whatever way you choose to go -- if it was me, I'd be planning a virus that prevented me returning to the U.K. on the 23rd, leaving no other option than to return on the 26th ( after 3 extra days in Cyprus !! )

Cheers,

Rickers

Why not try London? - a National Express bus will get you directly to Heathrow in about 2 hours from the Midlands, and the chances of a cheap flight direct to Larnaca are a lot better.
Stansted is also a good bet - I believe Cyprus Airways operate from there (if they still operate from anywhere...)
However if you do find any good deals from Mcr, I'd love to know, as I want to fly from there in October.
Good luck, Tony the ex-Manky
