Help and Tips on buying Property in Cyprus

Postby simonwjones » Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:48 pm

Hello all

Please can someone help.

I am looking at buying an apartment over in Cyprus.

Please can anybody offer advice? I am looking for a holiday home to rent out/investment.

What is the best area?
Safe developer?
What budget should I be looking at for one bed apartment?
Costs when buying? (i.e legal fees and taxes)

Our budget is around the £58k CYP

If you can offer some help I would appreciate it.

Thanks
SWJ

Hi andri_cy

It's a small world!

We lived in a rented house in Episkopi for two years while we finalised the design of our house and watched over its construction.

When were you last there?

Well I left in 2000 to come over and study then after my studies I ended up marrying and having a daughter. I never came back since.... :(
It is a long flight and my daughter is not going to just sit through it. She is now 4. We think we will be able to do it in a couple of years when it will be easier to explain to her she needs to be good on the plane ettc... I hope.
I have been getting very homesick in the past 3 months. I dont know why. Maybe its because my family used to come every winter but this year they want to wait till summer. Plus I dont want to tell my husband because he feels bad because he thinks I would rather be there, which is not true. I mean it is in a way but I would rather be with him and I dont care where.
Anyway, I am just blabbering now. I shall shut it. I was last there in February 2000 :(

Where to invest is a personal choice, but If I were to invest at the moment I would choose Paphos for many reasons.

Dont rely on one property developer it would be good If you visited many of them to compare quality and prices.Dont rush to buy immediately spend time to collect information , compare places , prices , quality of different constructions and then make your choice!

With the budget of 58k for a 1 bedroom apt is fine!
