the only "hero" in this case was grivas.
the soldiers - probably 18 years olds were following orders. i dont know how one can follow such orders but they did.

at least one of them hat the guts to say what happened and apologise. its one of the big wounds in cyprus that should close.

ofcource, the same works - for the killings of gc civilians.

maybe grivas was gargamel?

back to reality has national guard involvement been proven in an independant international court? I don't know if it has ...I admit that I am ignorant about whether anything has been proven in court. If it has I'll accept that the National Guard was working for Gargamel

yes you are right - i did meet one of his soldiers years later in london. he was visiting his cousin, who was a freind of mine, and the three of us went out for dinner. He asked me what villages i was from. I told him, and he hung his head and looked to the floor. I asked what was wrong and he explained. i cant really explain it, but we just talked about it, and i felt no hatred for him, nor wanted revenge. probably because he spoke honestly openly and with real sorrow. Somehow i felt better in hearing the admission, and i think he felt better in getting it off his chest. He had been in cyprus since that attack and one of the first people he met when he left cyprus was someone from that village. Isnt fate strange?

Anyway it did help me understand that even those who did take part did not agree with it. This must have happened all over the island on both sides. so why the f did cypriots have to war?

there are stories of gcs hiding tcs from eoka, and tcs hiding gcs from turkish fighters too.

lets face it, along with all the other rulers of Cyprus we also made a right balls up of it. maybe its just a cyprus thing and thats the way it always will be. ive heard it said that the worlds biggest donkeys live on Cyprus.

since you are the topic of devouring humans, this is what grivas said as he and the national guard entered that village.

"I have come to drink Turkish blood"

so dont be too suprised if that soldier was put off the idea of ordering human flesh.

agios he never said that.
read what he wrote for f***s sake :

but we just talked about it, and i felt no hatred for him, nor wanted revenge.

thats how wounds can get healed.

as for the international court bla bla, it is sth that we all know, we dont need courts, we just need to apologise and forgive.

back on topic....the 3 demands from turkey are to fulfil it's eu obligations - to conduct a limited withdrawl of troops - what does this mean 20 troops, ten thousand? what rubbish - and take back a 'number' of settlers...again how many 5 settlers, 500? what sacrifices turkey has to make!

Did you know that when the Turks first came to Cyprus in one day alone have killed 20.000 people and many more thousands within the next few months.?

Do you know that the Turkish invasion of 1974 has killed 6000 people and ethnically cleansed 200.000?

yes, GCs have committed some crimes over a tiny part of our history. However the Turks can not use those events as an excuse since their crimes are 100 times more.

If we are ready to forgive their 100 times worst crimes and let the past behind so we can finally have peace, legality, human rights and democracy, then why can't Turks do the same? My guess: Because they want to use that selectively chosen tiny part of history as an excuse for even more crimes against us, like they used to do over the most part of our common history and like they do as we speak.
