Yes like Chechnya or Afghanistan, I am sure those bearded Warlords are looking for a court jester. Only impediment is that you’re not funny. I am sure they can find another use for you. Your friends in Kyrenia must have broken you in by now. Yes do pop along.

Bucking the tourism trend

A sore point holding the development of Cypriot tourism back, said Photiou, is the operation of casinos in northern Cyprus: “£30-40million a year is being spent in illegally operating casinos of the north,” he said.

Photiou informed the Committee that the occupied areas accepted around 566,000 tourists a year; 450,000 of them come from Turkey and 116,000 of them are British.
“Tourists come to unoccupied Cyprus and go on day trips to the Turkish Cypriot side. Some even stay overnight. There has been an increase in excursions to the north in the past year.”

i am not talking about the advertising now. just for the last part.
since the check points are opened, we cannot prevent tourist of visiting the north. and when tourist visit such a small island the chances are that they want to go everywhere.
do we want the check points to stay open ?

Although referred to as OCCUPIED - you very rarely see the boys from the turkish army! For tourists the North is a place where mass tourism is not yet achieved. there arent many high rise hotels (like paphos). There are however many unmade roads (bad for the old suspension) and prices in resteraunts are rising, but at the end of the day - good or bad, you CANT stop the movement of people!!! If you do you will be despised by ALL the peoples who sent their sons into war for FREEDOM. Dont go there! Believe me its a BAD place.

Mr Moderator. This is not an insult but a question
Pumperthingy, why so coy, you must have visited your close friends in the occupied areas on countless occasions?

no friends there sadly, though they are very friendly over there. Have been a couple of times, passed through and then back again.

Didn;t have enough time to properly suss out the place. Looked run down, but the people are lovely.

I bet Kyrenia (or Girne) as they say, is a very interesting place. Would like to spend more time. Maybe have a look at property. Who knows.

Mr moderator this is not an insult but a suggestion
Come Come, no friends I can’t believe that. You must be the life and soul of any party, the turn if you will. Anyway, I would like you to spend more time there, go on, buy some property. I could recommend a certain Mr Robb. All that hard earned sheckels could buy him a nice little conservatory.

What you talking about, I'd turn up with a fiver and buy a whole street.

Leave it out. Besides, I get funny about buying places without title deeds. Would rather do it legit. Use a good quality colour photocopier and get those babies printed up real convincing like. Bit of tippex, touch up with a fine pen, sorted. All mine.

I'd like to see Famagusta one day. Bet its nice and peaceful. Un tack-fied. Unlike AYia Napa.
