homebuyers pressure group

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby bakala » Tue Mar 14, 2006 2:43 am

Rolo
i think you paint a picture of a peaceful ( i include TCs and GCs )people caught in the middle of a giant political Chess game where they get dragged into a civil war they didnt want and forced to take sides just to survive,
is that a fair evaluation Rolo ?

Sorry
Alexis and Rawk comment also please

yup thats about it.

we as gcs and tcs were not the most educated of peoples during the 60's.
we were too eager to believe our own propagandas and impose our wills, instead of forging a united new "people".

we come from a tiny lovely island which had been a British military outpost for 60 years. All we had was fruits, veg, goats chickens and our rich histories.
we were politically naive.

we can still of course forge this new tribe, but now everyone is singing the same old song - "Forge it on his land first"

today the land issue is highly complex. much of it has now been handed down to the next generation, who have never set foot on that land, and with titles needs such as

"one third of a plot in between a walnut tree and two lemon trees next to a bush".

how will anyone know who owns what?

just a comment.
the land registry in cyprus is very detailed.
its not complicated to find, what piece belongs to who. it is actually very easy .

believe me its the english who did that.
it works

the reconcilation commissions is sth that sould have be done long ago.... but, remember that we are not able to punish our own, who will accept to extend it to the other community ?

I think that anyone who tries to muddy the waters by saying no refugees know what belongs to them will face a rude awakening in Court.

Most refugees know very clearly what is theirs thanks to detailed surveying and records at the Registry. But also because cypriots are very territorial when it comes to their homes. My uncle has spent $55,000 suing a nieghbour who encroached on his hobby farm worth only $85,000. He only was awarded party/ party costs of $20,000. Some Cypriots are just no good at commercial decisions. He is happy and actually bought his Australian lawyer a case of imported KEO. He says pelares like" its the price of justice."
