Human rights must be restored immediately and unconditionally but under the jurisdiction of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Would you buy a car without a log book or knowing who the real owner is? Would you buy a house in the Gaza Strip? Stupidity. This land is in serious dispute. Its no better than handling stolen goods.

Piratis what i am meaning is that the Cyprus problems will never be solved until attitudes change. No matter what has happened in the past it can never be changed, it has already happened. It is only the future which Cypriots have any control over. As far as i am aware there was/is disrespect of human rights on both sides, like it or not. A solutions has to be acheived democratically and legally otherwise it is not a solution.

stuballstu, today all human and legal rights violations are caused due to the Turkish occupation. However I am afraid Cypriots don't have much control of the future as they didn't have much control in the past. Cypriots were never allowed to decide anything in a democratic way for their own island. Either they were given no choice at all, or they were given only one choice (which is basically the same).

There is no Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Postby lysi » Sat Mar 11, 2006 12:00 pm

Retarded2cyprus, you and your pals who have bought property built on stolen greek cypriot land must know that one day there will be a settlement and scumbags like you who have wasted your money on buying cheap stolen land and property will be out on your ear.
You and your so called presure group are a bunch of thieves.

buying legitimate conquered property

Sorry Lysi, you is wrong.

The north of cyp now belongs to turkey cos they won it in a war. That means it belongs to new owners. A very harsh but true fact.

So its fair game. That's life buddy.

Lysi

I am trying to keep my posts as impartial as possible. The majority of GC's go on about being refugees and "stolen" properties to the rest of the world. In a kind of selfish way, do you think that if all, and i mean all, refugees get their lands back that the problems on the island are automatically solved?

You have to be realistic here how many refugees do you think will return to their former homes? What do you do about refugees who cant return do to their lands due to these lands being used for other things? A couple of examples is the TC who owns a proportion of the land that Larnaca Airport is built on. Can this family say thats my land you have to knock it down? The same way GC's say that houses built in the north want those houses knocked down and the lands restored. Will this happen to Larnaca Airport? The principles are the same. As more building work happens in the North the chances of GC's getting property back is getting slimmer as every day goes by. To date the best chance of getting lands back in the North was the now buried "Annan" plan. The longer it takes for a solution the less lands will be returned.

Also there was an interesting article in todays Cyprus Mail regards formerly TC property in the South I'll copy and paste it below.
