You sound like one of the many Brits who is benefitting from the invasion because you now live in an affordable place in the sun, which is something the UK cannot offer. Your comfortable in the knowledge that if anything happens you can always fly back to the safety of your home country. You see no problem because you have lost nothing, it's not really complicated is it.

Now if for example, Argentina had succeeded in taking the Falkland Islands or the IRA had succeeded in annexing Northern Island, or perhaps if Britain had been under occupation for even a small period of time during WWII (like many European countries were). Perhaps you and others like you may have been better for it, because then you wouldn't see someone else's pain and suffering and remain smug about it.

You can make your assumptions about who I am and my life and why I say the things I do - if it makes you happier. But maybe I am none of those things you assume I am and hold my opinions because I've looked at the facts as I see them and have arrived at my opinion.

Your problem is as djtrax98 outlined - an inability to grasp reality, come to terms with it and move on. So instead you bitterly attack all around you - Brits, Turks, Americans, Turkish Cypriots. It's all their fault and if only they'd just capitulate to your views then everything would be perfect again.

Most of the countries that were under Nazi occupation are OVER it. Old enemies have formed alliances and now citizens of the EU work in eachother's countries and intermarry and learn eachother's languages. Apparently you lot are in the EU now - but you wouldn't think it to listen to you.

This is because even though e.g. Nazis have commited crimes against hummanity the order and justice has been restored and globally respected by everyone. In the case of Cyprus the crimes still continue even though condemmned by UN resolutions and justice has not been restored because those resolutions are not respected...

On the contrary, I think we have grasped the realities all too well. We don’t want to see lower middle class English scum popping over to the occupied areas and buying our land at knock down prices. We don’t hate the English; I think Scots hate the English.

Strahd please clarify what you mean by the crimes still continue. Do you mean the land sale situation or something else? And why has justice not been restored because the resolutions were not respected?
May i remind you that the majority of TC's voted overwhelmingly for the Anna Plan whereas the Southern sie flatly rejected it? So who is disrespecting the efforts made for a solution? Fair enough it didnt meet the demands of the Cypriot side. however it still could have been signed on the agreement that certain areas of the plan would be reviewed or changed that option WAS open to you.
Instead you flatly rejected it, pushing the only chance of reunitement of the island as far away as you could push it.
You had a chance to put the problem right with the Annan Plan. But because the plan consisted of compromise which the Cypriot side clearly has no intention of doing it was REJECTED.
Now you will have to wait another 20 or thirty years before that opportunity comes around again. And that is nobodys fault but the Cypriots side. Remember that the next time you gather at Ledra palace in protests crying over faded 30 year old pictures of missing loved ones.

More bullshit. UN resolutions are just for decoration and no crimes are being commited. There is peace and tranquility. Compromise is the only thing which will bring the two sides together. As there is not much of that about everyone might as well go their separate ways.

The reality is Michael that its talk like that which turns this debate into a personal firing range. That is why i counter attacked Piratis statement to me last night i do not appreciate being attacked and insulted over expressing my views on a public forum, i as an English Cypriot have as much a right to expression as you do.

English people in general are always after a bargain, however many of them are misinformed when buying or viewing properties in the North by salesmen who just want to make money out of them. Many of them do not their rights and that its wrong to go ahead with such transactions. Many of them do its not for me or you to decide, we cannot judge anyone.

Can someone answer me this?
WHAT HOPE IS THERE OF FINDING A SOLUTION WHEN WE CANNOT EVEN CONGREGATE ON A DEBATE SUCH AS THIS WITHOUT LAUNCHING ATTACKS ON PEOPLES VIEWS?

'We have cancerous scum like you'
Is that really fair? to call someone cancerous scum because they voiced their opinion which YOU did not agree with?
Another Fact. Many people abroad including repatriated Cypriots agree with what i and many others have written on this site regarding the inability to put the past behind us and move forward. Why? Because they have escpaed the brainwash that is Cyprus society and have lived for long enough abroad to be able to take a much more wider scope of the situation.
Perhaps before anyone else gets personal within this forum again either towards me(which i WONT tolerate especially from MODERATORS) or anyone else expressing their views they should book themselves a return ticket to another country.
Maybe after you have lived there and seen the error of your judgements and criticisms you can come back and shed light on this discussion instead of POISON AND FIRE.

You are a desperate to show that everything is fine and dandy in your Turkic ghetto. Stealing in the Judeo Christian tradition is a crime. I am sure it is in the Muslim religion. Nomadic Turkic tribes also take a dim view if, say a chicken was stolen, probably kill your whole family. Very civilised. Best thing you can do is pack your bags go home and everything will be fine.

My Turkic ghetto?
Michael do you not realise i am Cypriot? Why do you speak with such bitterness and hatred to people who do not share your narrow minded points of view?
I AM HOME. But if home to me is also home to poisonous hatred filled self centred mindless individuals like yourself then perhaps i better go and live in a REAL European country.
Because the way you are speaking is exactly how i would expect someone belonging to AL QAEDA to be talking. Brainwashed poisonous and only after one thing. HIS POINT OF VIEWS TO COUNT AND NOONE ELSES.
Perhaps YOU should be the one to leave? Then there would only be 999,999 other people to change their minds so a solution can be found.
Al Qaeda is always on the look out for new recruits to spread hatred and war on people. T
Take your EOKA B chains of thought to them, they could put them to good use.

The peace and tranquility you refer to is one imposed at gunpoint by the 40,000 brutal turkish troops armed to the teeth who are there to ensure the continuation of the violation of the human rights of GCs and effect of the theft of half of Cyprus from its rightful owners.

Just because we are not fighting a war against the invaders and illegal occupiers doesn't mean we accept the occupation.

Until recently, I would have conceded that Turkey would not give up the areas she stole and that GCs were too weak to enforce the rule of international and human rights law.

Now, however, the situation is changing. IF Turkey is to join the EU, she will HAVE to

EITHER (a) accept the 1960 constitution providing for the RoC unitary state (i.e. dissolve the puppet state, remove its army etc)

OR (b) propose an alternative that is acceptable to both TCs AND GCs

If (b) cannot be found, then she will be have to start respecting the only legal and internationally recognised constitution on the island.

Failing this, her EU accession process will be terminated and she will keep 37% of Cyprus as "compensation".[/quote]
