The biggest April Fool's Day joke in Cyprus is that EOKA (1955..59) was fighting for the independence of Cyprus, when all the while they aimed for Cyprus’ serfdom/subordinance to an impoverished Greece!

The Cypriots hated that Cyprus would be granted independence in 1960; in accordance with the UN’s mandate, and did everything they could to destroy it.

We are the only people in the history of mankind who rejected a granted independence (see note) and insisted on serfdom/subordinance!

Such is the foundation of this banana republic!
