Sounds a bit gobbledegook. I'm sure it's me though:

Just a load of blah, blah, blah...

The only thing they can really do is shift demand to the ~10:00 - 14:00 period where all the PVs produce electricity... Flexible pricing perhaps. Grid-level storage isn't an option... Replacing every domestic inverter isn't really an option...

That or divert all the 'extra' electricity to desalination plants and pumping it into the dams - or back out to sea when we have a year of full rainfall.

Btw, we’re all getting new power consumption meters! The roll-out has already begun…

NB: If anyone doesn’t know how to translate a page to English it’s in the browser’s main menu somewhere.

Okay if it allows flexible pricing... If it is 'demand management' (switching you off when there is too much demand) that is a different story...

In NZ the electrical supply company controls your water heater. If there is too much demand on the grid they just switch your water heater off... When I was there we had cold showers for three days.

I wouldn’t have a clue Grumps... but what I *can* predict is that with all the bells & whistles the new meters have they're bound to consume more power than the old ones, so we're screwed!

In the UK you have the right to refuse one (although they are quite persuasive), looks like no choice here... :x

Hey Grump. How about a day of banner waving in Nicosia? We could pop into GRs for a coffee.

I’ll have you know that the last time Grumpy and Kafenes (RIP) were due to my place for lunch, I fell asleep for hours and when I finally woke up I found like half a dozen missed phone calls!

It was a disaster… I think I was on medication if I remember well… it was embarrassing! :)

And the poor guy died not too long after that, and I’ve felt terrible ever since! :(

He was a great bloke and sadly missed...

I still keep in touch with his wife and see her occasionally...
