Gene Hackman loved acting but hated the trappings of Hollywood.
He retired 17 years ago and sought solitude in a Santa Fe gated complex. His wife - who was 30 years younger - gladly taking on the role of caring for him, whilst they both lived with the privacy that was so important to them.
She caught a deadly virus and was thought to have passed away within 24 hours. He lived for a further week with his Alzheimers, quite likely meaning he didn't realising she had died. He'd had a long history of heart disease/high blood pressure and passed away himself when his body gave out.
Hackman had a net worth of $128 million. Had he wished he could have employed an army of carers. In essence his obsessive desire for privacy directly contributed to his death. At the age of 95 he didn't do too bad though.
As is often the case you clearly haven't given the subject more than a cursory - headline grabbing - glance before turning it into a highly prejudiced rant. Absolutely typical.

I imagine the population of the US will be bitterly disappointed you've no intention of moving there and living well off the fat of the land, whilst spending hours every week slagging the place off. In between your other litany of misery guts postings. Aren't the British lucky?
