This is an interesting article. Do you think marriage proposal is better if done in a unique way?
LOVE was in the air this week as the Cyprus Mail played cupid to a love-struck romeo who proposed to his girlfriend through the newspaper’s Valentine’s Day messages.
Alwyn Evans, a 30-year-old British Cypriot explained that “the traditional way of proposing marriage is a bit boring and I wanted to do something different and was trying to surprise my girlfriend, Christiana.
The proposal read as follows:
“Christiana Argyridou, since meeting you and falling so deeply in love, I cannot imagine my life without you in it. I want to marry you, will you be my wife?”
Evans said that Christiana “telephoned me in the early afternoon in tears and said yes. I had been so nervous all day and was just over the moon and have been elated ever since. She woke up the following day and couldn’t quite believe it. She was really shocked. I love her very much and am really happy.”
The couple have known each other for five months and met in Larnaca, by chance, through mutual friends. They are planning an engagement party in August, with the wedding to take place in Cyprus at some point during 2007.
Christina, 27, who works at The Body Shop in Limassol, told the Sunday Mail that, “I walked into the office on Valentine’s Day and the girls had a copy of the newspaper waiting for me. Alwyn and I had spoken about marriage before but I wasn’t expecting a proposal just yet. The style of proposal was very him and was predictable to be honest, even though he knows that I’m not the kind of person who enjoys this kind of extra attention.
“I am very, very happy to be engaged. It feels surreal and hasn’t sunk in yet, but Alwyn really is amazing.”
