Antivirus ?!?

Postby Nampou re » Thu Feb 16, 2006 8:33 pm

Hi everyone, can anyone tell me the best (safest) antivirus program to use. I am now using norton 2005 which expires soon (liveupdate).
Before I re-subscribe I'd like to know if there are any other options out there to protect my comp. I've used AVG (free) in the past and got a nasty infection!

Hmm, you're right. Getting AntiVirus software can be complicated. A couple I recommend NOT getting are;

FluXP ™ ..my whole system got infected with a virus whilst using this one. Took ages to clear up.

ShegotHerpesXP ™.. got a rather nasty infection with that one. Rather not go into it. Still painfull to think of the damage it caused to my hard drive and my ram was never the same.

I've always had problems with Norton. These days, I use Kaspersky which keeps very up to date with the latest definitions and it doesn't kill your system resources.

I would recommend Nod32 that I currently use, Karspevsky as well (though i uses a bit more resources). Both a hell better thatn Norton which is just ...crap. I had a case that F-secure found a virus that none of the above would find it, but still I wouldnt get it. Best combo I found is Spy Sweeper and Nod32. So, far thanks god my pc flies! :)

Norton and nothing but.
Slowing down the system is a function of it working. The files HAVE to be checked somehow.
I find the 2006 to be an awesome product. I could do with out the BackUP but heck it s included.

Once you run all the program updated it seems to pick up in speed.

The Norton Systemworks package is a plus for sure. You get to clean up all windows trash easy. This is what I use in most of my pcs.

Keep in mind that you can set Norton AV to exclude scanning cenrtain directories. That helps in picking speed up.

Just my 2 cents on this subject. :D
