How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Leonidas the reason that most TCs speak Greek is because they were residents of a greek country by 80%. Do you in the US beeing a part of the greek-american minority expect the other americans to speak Greek, no you do not however you as a minority in the US are expected to speak English...

When was Cyprus ever GREEK?
I think you are misinformed my friend. Turkish Cypriots were never a 'minority' prior to the invasion in a Greek country, purely because Turkish Cypriots had as many rights as Cypriots did to live and work here. Indeed my mothers family was raised in an area of Larnaca where the ratio fo TC's to Cypriots was 4:1- FACT
Another reason why they were never a minority is because Cyprus isnt and for the matter in hand never has been GREEK. Its Cypriot. An enosis with Greece never took place remember?
Also if your facts were correctly informed you would see that over the course of history Cyprus has been under The Arab Conquerers and the Ottomans for more time durations than any other conquerering force.
So please dont be under the brainwashed illusion that all Cypriots are Greek. Because if you were to retrace your genetic heracy back to as far back as the 1100's i think you would get a nasty shock when you found out that in fact you have no Greek blood in you WHATSOEVER.

The point that is being made is simple.
Turkish Cypriots are making an EFFORT to learn our language as a step to a compromise in communication, they want the situation to sort itself out as much as we do, NOT all turkish Cypriots are bad nor are they all Grey Wolves this has to be understood.
Cypriots are NOT making an effort to rehabilitate the past as they have no wish for a compromise with the people they see as having 'taken their land'.
May i once agian remind you that it was pure bred Turks who invaded the island NOT Turkish Cypriots so please bear in mind that TC's are as much victims in this as Cypriots, they too were uprooted from their homesall around the South, how do you think they feel knowing someone is living in THEIR houses here now?
THERE ARE TOW SIDES TO EVERY COIN.
And i will keep on saying this until its engrained in the Hard Line fanatics who post dictatorial statements on this forum's brainwashed Thick skulls.

Thank you for that. I wouldn’t like to have you at any possible future negotiations. Why don’t you just hand over the keys to R.O.C and be done with it.

Well to be perectly honest i dont think that future negotiations will do any good.
Because i can see that all future negotiations will consist of the same dull boring sounding speeches of demands return of human rights etc, pretty much the stuff that you are coming out with, which if i was there wouold only send me to sleep.
besides you seem to be better at talking political rubbish than i am. PERHAPS YOU SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENCY of our beutiful island?
THEN WE MIGHT AS WELL BUILD A 700 FOOT WALL BETWEEN US AND THE NORTH.
OR BETTER STILL LETS PLANT LITTLE NUCLEAR BOMBS ALL ALONG THE GREEN LINE AND DETONATE THEM SO CYPRUS IS SPLIT FOR GOOD WITH SEA IN BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES.
Then you can get your ships sail in between the two bits of land and fight it out there, like your 'GREEK' ancestors did in 1821 and be glorious to the world saying that you reclaimed our island.
Thats the only way it will be solved when people think they way you do.
COMPROMISE. key word.

Yes, it’s very boring to want ones country. Quite dull!
I think you have purloined your political insight from the local Women Fashion Magazine. “If we all wore red chiffon dresses wouldn’t Cyprus be a nice place... “

WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM TRYING TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND?

What you want and what you get is TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS!
You WONT get all of Cyprus back JUST LIKE THAT, so until its a viable option turn your concentrations to another objective point of the problem.
ask yourself what will happen to all the thousands of people who if hypothetically speaking if we were to get all the land back, where would all the TC's go? There MUST be provisions, this would cause a large problem....
Everything i have read on the subject i have made a point of the material being written by outside parties of the problem as i can calculate from myself through objectivity where the problem lies. Of course you will write back and say that i have been reading american and british propaganda, and if you consider anyone other than a cypriot to write an article on the subject a farse then my friend you live in a bubble.
Had i read all the literature written by Cypriots, or watched all the repeat tv programs on the matter, or attended a local greek school where you are taught the kind of rubbish i have seen many people write on here then i guess i would have been speaking exactly like you.
I dont expect you to understand my point, please try to understand i am not taking sides all i said and maintianed from the start is that in order for a solution to be found processed and implemented there must be a considerable compromise between the two sides. That is what has sparked a couple of the patriots to attack me on this forum regarding this
As for your comments regarding the womens magazines-
No i dont read them.
But judging from the specific names you give for the ladys magazines, perhaps you do?....

I don’t think I named a specific fashion magazine, merely commented on that quite laughable solution that you propose appear to emanate from one.
I have no idea what you have been reading. But, again you’re addled thoughts point to propose surrender. “Accept the status quo, be a good chap and stop causing problems” I find it amusing that as an “outsider” you have a special insight that escapes the rest of us. The sheer arrogance is galling! Exactly how much compromise do you want with the Turks? They use our hospitals, we keep them in gainful employment, we provide them with a pension, and they use our electricity. What do we exactly get for all this? Bugger all.

So now we arent even greeks?
Greeks are not a bloodline and never claimed to be Greeks are a culture. We have this culture in our roots and our greatest heritage is the Greek language the richest language of all.Greeks have know this in ancient times that they were not a pure race but a mix of tribes that created this amazing history. Its ashame to have all this and refuse it saying im not greek im cypriot.Yes you are Cypriot but you are also Greek. The Cypriot dialect is much closer to ancient greek thant the greek they speak in Athens.
Hellenism is a way of life a culture a language a philosophy not a RACE.
So dont go around saying your not Greek but Cypriot.Today Hellenism has two different and separate countries each one with their own destiny.
Proud to be Cypriot.
Proud to be Greek.

As for NeverSayGoodbye:
How can you claim to be greek if there is no Greek blood in your family? Just because we speak a dialect of Greek, hold the Greek tradition and culture does not make us Greeks, we are all CYPRIOTS.
If an enosis would have gone ahead we would have been Greek.
All the Indians you see who go the UK who speak english live and work and follow the uk practices are still Indians UNLESS they gain nationality.
Pakistanis and Indians speak different dialects loosely based on the same language, they follow similiar religions and their ways of life are almost identical YET they are two separate nations.
So stop dreaming, Cyprus has NEVER been part of Greece nor will it EVER be a part of Greece so you and i are Cypriots.
The Only time you can call yourselves that is if you are directly related to Greeks or at such a time as the two countries join.
However i am not holding my breath that you will be able to possibly comprehend such a concept as it has been ingrained in your brainwahsed skull since you were old enough to walk.

I Have had it with this discussion, i joined this discussion in order to gain an insight into other peoples beliefs and thoughts, as wellas to express mine. In the last 24 hours i have been attacked, i have had my family insulted and i have had over zealous patriots who insist their opinion is the only one that matters throw all sorts at me.
MY FRIENDS YOU ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE YOUR COMMENTS ARE DAMAGING.
When i was at University i actively took part in debates and discussions with Cypriots as wellas Turkish Cypriots and main land turks. We all used to debate the subject heavily, then come together to be one closely associated community everyone knowing everyone and everyone living together.
Then i come across this forum and STUPID ME. I expected to find the same response here from educated individuals.
How wrong was I. Instead i find a bunch of baboons who are willing to launch attacks on anyone who throws an opinion which doesnt match theirs.
LEARN TO BE CIVILIZED HUMAN BEINGS, TALK INFORMATIVELY NOT DIRECTLY AND PERSONALLY MOCKING AND ATTACKING OTHER PEOPLES THOUGHTS AND VIEWS.
I would understand it, if i insulted someone or said something which was utterly wrong. I havent i merely made a general point for which i was burnt at the stake.
SO GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE ELSE WHO IS POSITIVE ABOUT THIS TOPIC TO MEET SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR AN EDUCATED DISCUSSION ON THE SUBJECT WITHOUT FANTICISM AND BRAINWASH.
That narrows it down to a few users out of the hundreds of fools who write here.

It has to be said your arrogance is quite baffling. I thought your insight arose from hobnobbing with the mover and shakes in London, Ankara and Washington. Now it transpires that your “knowledge of cypprob” is accrued from a couple of long nights at a student friend’s house. A micro debating society if you will. If you set your self up on a pedestal, especially in this thoroughly patronising manner then expect to be knocked down.

Well said my friend. You are hitting the nerve of the fanatics that is why you are being attacked. It is the only way they know how to deal with things. Half ass information twisted their way.

Hidding behind their screen name and being Judge and Jury. I bet the same people that whine the they are so deprived will be sitting on a beach chair in their speedo swim suits drinking foreign beer and still talk about the same crap over and over.

The Cyprus problem will never be solved with that mentality. Unfortunetly what you see here is not far off what many uneducated GC think. All that TV propaganda has brain washed the majority.

I left 26 years ago and everytime I go back is like I nothing changed. Blame blame blame. Always pointing the finger at others and never at themselves.

I hope you have lots of eggs to throw at the brick wall of the Cypriot fanatics. From both sides. Unfortunetly i don't see is cracking.

Good luck
