MOVING TO CYPRUS

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Oh my little Turkish Piglet, don’t forget to add that you’re living in a Bantustan that nobody recognises apart from the Ankara. Apart from substandard social and medical facilities, the judicial system is akin to most Muslim dictatorship. You will be literally living outside the law; there is no protection from the law. Look at the old English bugger that got stabbed by the Turk. I don’t why , maybe he wasn’t paying his rent boy money on time.

If there so great why are Turkish Cypriots fleeing and the country crawling with Turkic Mongols that would not look out of place in Kabul. If you cant stand living with your own, why should you force them on anybody else.

hEY,
FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE:
I am a uk cypriot born abd bred in cyprus lived here all my life however my nationality is british. i have a cypriot id card which is fine, but fortunatley for me, when i arrived back from my studies 2 years ago in the uk, I found work instantly and began to work and pay taxes with a social security number.
However its become evident of late after another friend of mine went to renew his passprt at the British High Commission in Nicosia that even though i am living here and working here, i still need a work permit!
Yes its true. There is no problem with anyone from the EU working here, but you do need to obtain a work permit in order to work in cyprus, which i wasnt aware of as i had been working no problems.
Apparently its one of the things the governement hasnt gotten round to amending yet after our accession to the EU .so for now anyone from the EU who wants to come and live and work in cyprus still needs a work permit British included.
I can only speak of EU citizens i dont know the situation with anyone else.
Hope this helps?

Hi djtrax98

Can I correct you slightly; you do not need a Work Permit but as an EU National you Alien Registration Card will show your puropse of residence as 'Employment' as opposed to 'Retired'.

Hi whirlybird

Yes, you must regsiter with Immigration within 90 days. They will require Passports, spare pictures, evidence you can support yourself financially and evience that you have healthcare.

Hi SWJ

Moving here is very easy compared with pre -EU days, if you are an EU national I am sure we can answer any questions you might have. I would suggest you trawl back in General Chat becasue many issues have been covered previously.

If you have a British passport (or any EU passport I suppose) you will sail through immigration at the airport without speaking to anybody.

Then you have to register within three months to get you ‘Aliens Card’ as has been mentioned earlier on the thread…
