Unfortunately the UN only cared to deal with the rights of REAL refugees, without caring to determine the procedures as to how a REAL refugee could get that status before seeking refuge to any other country. As things currently stand it is next to impossible for any REAL refugee to obtain status or a refugee visa for any country, either from within it's own country or a neighboring one. The reason is because the hypocrites at the embassies simply ignore all applications. And that's the reason they have no other choice other than risk their lives entering random countries illegally via boats etc.

Also the UN did not specify any procedure as to the number of refugees any country could accommodate/afford while it also gives the right to real refugees to go to any country they wish, so almost everybody from the Middle East, Africa, or even Asia, chooses Europe and usually the richest countries in Europe as destination.

On top of everything economic migrants today exploit the situation showing up as refugees, when is reality they are not.

Unless these things get agreed in detail at the UN, together with the detailed procedures how refugees could get refugee status and refugee visa, together with safe and free air or ship traveling ticket, the problem will continue for eternity.

Perhaps the UN themselves should establish offices in all countries and check the embassies or just issue refugee visas to specific Countries themselves.

Han gon a moment. When they were accepting Ukrainian refugees, they did not even ask them which part of Ukraine they came from.

There are trouble spots which gave genuine refugees.

There is also Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia Pakistan and the list goes on. There is only one wat to stop refugees and that is if the west stops causing wars and dictators coming to power. No wars no refugees.

Migrants who are not in danger have no problem. They can apply to migrate. If they do not qualify, they can find out what they have to do to qualify. Match skills required and you will be accepted somewhere in Europe.
My friend's son has applied to go to Australia on a 3 year work holiday visa. He received the acceptance the next day. But of course he is white, which seems to make a big difference in migration.

Ironically the UN laws say we must not encourage or entice important professionals like doctors and nurses to migrate from poorer countries . They must train there on.

I fear it was not incompetence, especially as the refugees shouted at them to stop pulling and they ignored. It is not rocket science to realise that if you pull a fully loaded boat 90 degree off its course it will sink. The fact is they first denied they were any near the boat. They were asked 3 times if they needed help and ignored it. Clearly they did not go there to help but sink the boat.
