Patriotism or Fascism

Postby Lordo » Sat Jan 21, 2023 12:19 am

When does patriotism end and where does fascism begin. More importantly when does a patriot become a fascist?
For instance were the Nazis patriots?

If a person is seeing a criticism of an individual party policy as an attack on ones country, what does that make this person?

Would it have been wrong to call Germany Naziland during the time the Nazis were in power? Equally is it wrong to call a country Swineland when Swine have been in power for 13 years?

Wakey-wakey.

Your approach to what could be a good discussion, is too obtuse! I hate to say it but LR's comment was correct ....... 'Council' is leading the witness. In plain English?

I would say the difference between Patriot and Fascist is:

A Patriot is proud of his country by association over time and ECOURAGES others to see the good side.

The Fascist is proud of his regime, supports its political aims ..... and uses FORCE to impose their ideology on others, by any means possible.

In a nutshell........ Patriotism is voluntary ..... Fascism is imposed!

...a Patriot accepts Principles and lives by them.

Fascists (like "Swine"), define people to judge them, (and to take away the right of the People/Individuals to judge for themselves.)

...a lack of malice is the limit i suppose for Patriots, for Freedom of Speech; even among swine: they suffer from "Swine" (not withstanding those not "Swine" who suffer too).

“Hate to say it” RH? :( When I find your efforts such a refreshing change.

:D

Lordo keeps pushing this one. It obviously has him rattled but’s really a case of his being hoist by his own petard.

For 9 months he’s run a, more-or-less, lone star thread comprising 80 pages (650 posts?). There have been contributions from most members at various stages but the vast majority have been his.

Whilst he plays on the Tory party criticisms there are few aspects of the UK’s politics, culture, history or population that haven’t received his scathing attention at one time or another. When the mask slips he refers to Britain as “Swineland”.

I think you’d struggle to find, in all of that, where I’ve said anything in support of the Conservatives (“Swine”m, “Sow” f). I actually regard the current mob as an inept bunch of social democrats - on a good day.

It would have been naive of me not to expect a degree of criticism of the UK on a Cypriot forum, particularly one with a left-wing leaning, but La la Land is in a league of its own, above obsessive. Nevertheless………… it’s his thread and TBH keeps him occupied and out of trouble.

How any of that translates into my being a Fascist is one of the many mysteries that swirl around in Lordo’s brain. I’m not particularly patriotic either but if I’d been calling Cyprus “Swineland” for 9 months in here, well, you can just imagine……….. :D

The real issue is not Patriotism or Fascist though, it is much more specific.

What about those individuals who are mistaking a genuine criticism of the policies of a party to an attack on their country? Also does a patriot attempt to silence those who are not only seeing the bad side but actively pointing them out?

There are those who do not understand and simply see the criticism as an attack on their country? What do they come under?

And there are also those who do see it and attempt to cover it up maliciously. What these people come under?

I guess Fascsotriots is a good description. There are a lot of these about?

Swineland (in the way you use it) implies that a big portion of the people are swines, to which I actually agree for the UK. However it might be insulting to the majority who are not "Swines" and the Patriots who consider it as a generalized term for the whole the country.

I actually also think that Cyprus is a CrooksLand (if that term is correct) as a big part of the Cypriots don't miss a chance to benefit at the expense of others. Examples: Decades of taking loans to buy houses with absolutely no intention of paying them back. That's what caused the collapse of our commercial Banks and the Co-Op (actually much worse from the Leftist Co-Op ). A few days ago the exams at high schools were cancelled when they discovered a teacher leaked the content, which then spread via SMS. Imagine that... a TEACHER FCS!! Hundreds of examples from ALL CYPRIOTS.

Question is, is that fascism? No, it is an unbearable social injustice, which may resemble fascism.

No no no. it is only insulting to those who are unable to understand what is being posted. The vast majority of people are decent. There are even decent wealthy people who have recently said that the government could tax them more to help with the finances but the Swine refuse to increase tax for the wealthy.

The Swine are the Tory party members, Establishment and the Media. They have controlled the country for 13 years. They manipulate ordinary people to vote for the Tories. Cameron recently admitted they like to use the race card especially just before the election. Blame everything on the foreigners when the real issue is under investment in public services by the Swine party. There are 160,000 odd members of the party. There is three corporations that control the media and perhaps a few thousand in the establishment controlling the Civil Service, Police and the Military.

Indoctrination means the lack of power to form your own beliefs and are always confident that what you have been told is the truth, even when faced with equally plausible but contradictory beliefs!
