Finally I have may hands on the much anticipated book about TMT. I found out they went through hell to get it published and finally achieved it. As yet only in Turkish but the Greek version is being worked on.
One thing very clear, the aim of TMT was Taksim. But this was not the aim of the Turkish government. She realised what a good deal TCs got and wanted to protect the Republic. However Deep State (Ozel Ordu Dairesi) had other plans from 1958 under the direction of the CIA and was hell bent on Taksim. This is why when Kuchuck asked for help in 1964, Inonu advised him to go back to the parliament and claim their seats. The TCs were not so keen on Taksim so they had to be encouraged to hate GCs so they decided to put many more bombs not only the two well known ones but other ones to the encourage fighting.
Once TMT fighting started first in 1958 and then December 1963 TMT had to distinct function. One was protecting the TC population from attacks which was the function of the majority of the TMT members. After all all Mujahids were TMT members under the control of the Bayraktar. There was a small minority that went out of the enclaves and captured innocent GCs and either used them to exchange captured TCs or murdered them if exchange was not arranged. They also killed quite a few left-wing TCs too both before and after 1960.
I understand the function of EOKA pre-1960, but what was the function of EOKA after December 1963. They certainly had no defensive duties as there was no case where TCs attacked GCs like in Kochina, Kofunye, Aytotoro, Piroi, Aysozomeno etc etc 100 or so villages where TCs and GCs cohabited for centuries without any real problems.
Other than killing innocent TCs and GCs both before and after 1960, what was their function in December 1963 and beyond?
