India and China don’t seem to care enough about football; the former loves Cricket while the latter love Ping-Pong and Badminton the most, and unlike America neither country has the advertising/sponsorship type of environment that can invest in and propel a sport like football.
As more and more money flows into US soccer with every passing world cup, you can bet it’ll make an impact in the future, so I definitely see them making a final… maybe 3-4 tournaments from now.
Football is all about numbers…
Lots of money invested + big population = success.
There is big money in the US and the same is true in Australia.
The clubs are paying $300,000 per game for the 2 foreigners. each team is only allowed 2 foreigners.
Now, if the teams are willing to pay that much for 2 players, even the bottom players, then they can attract big stars.
The clubs also seem to be affiuliated and owned with major clubs overseas.
In the last world cup when Australia played Spain, Australia took the lead against spain 2 to 1, then spain equalized and the winning goal was scored by David Villa in the dieing moments.
Machester City bought David Villa for $30 million. Within a month, David Villa, still a current Spanish International ended up playing at Melbouyrne City, and the following season at New York City. making $300,000 per game.
It's really different in Australia and Amerika. They both have the draft, and finals footy at the end of the season, usually in front of crowds as high at 90,000 in the biggest stadiums in the world.
The leagues are very fast paced, and all teams play an attacking still. There is a small disparity between the top team and the last team, which is always good enough to win.
