Now I can see why Germans hated the Russians so much. It makes sense.

Whilst I can't condone The Third Reich and all the Nazis did, from holocaust, to war crimes and whatever other debauchery they got up to, I got to say I feel sorry for the Krauts.

Our POWs for starters, in particular our Airmen who were captured, were treated with a great deal of respect and humanity, even before the existence of the Geneva Convention. So the Nazis deserve credit in that regard.

But I can understand their hatred of Russia and the Red Army.

By far, Russians are far more evil and more criminal, as we can see in the year 2022.

Have you got any evidence that Ukrainian POWs are being treated worse by Russia today than allied POW held by the Nazis during WW2?

On the personal orders of Hitler they executed 50 officers caught after their escape from Stalag Luft III (the great escape). There are many well documented incidents where the SS murdered Allied POWs.

Australian Airmen never really had a great issue as POWs in German Concentration Camps. yes sure, they would have been executed if they attempted escape, and conditions were not great but as good as one could expect in the hands of the Germans during WW2.

Australian Airmen and soldiers captured by the Japanese however, was a whole different situation. The Japanese were barbaric. Most were lucky to survive.

I have no doubt that the Red Army would be even worse than the Japanese.

Today I was just thinking. The general hatred of the Nazis towards the Russians was quite extreme. Maybe they had reasons why this was so...
