17th September 1939 - Poland (let's not forget how, prior to Barbarossa, the Russians carved up E Europe and the Baltic countries with the Germans under the Molotov/Ribbentrop pact)

30th November 1939 - Finland

1st November 1956 - Hungary

20th August 1968 - Czechoslovakia

20th February 2014 - Ukraine (Crimea)

24th February 2022 0 Deja vu

Those are "recent" European ones I think. Although, you could include their enforced occupation of the Baltic states in June 1940 and countries like Bulgaria + a few others post WW2 as invasions I suppose. Let's give them a break though.

Outside of that there was:

24th December 1979 - Afghanistan 24th December

1st August 2008 - Georgia

I may have missed some.

Lordo wrote:You really need to pay more attention to history. It was Napoleon who attacked Russia first. Then the Germans in the WW1. Then when the Communists took power, the West supported the white Russians to overthrow Lenin when they financed and armed them after WW1. Then we have Hitler attacking too. So I count at least 4.

Ohh, come on Lordo. Let me out of this.

I merely used the two best known, most devastating and disastrous examples of that great idea.................invading Russia. Where was there any indication it was meant to be a comprehensive reflection of the entire history of the practice? Don't be another GR Google King.

Nevertheless, I stick to my point, which still escapes any reasonable response (due to cherry picking).

Does anybody really - I mean really - believe that the combined countries of NATO are going to collectively agree to an invasion of Russia? The idea is clearly and patently nonsense which - like the discovery of "secret bio-weapon labs" - is just an excuse for domestic consumption, framed to support Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

You actually believe that the CIA had nothing to do with any of the above?

Utter garbage! There’s no correlation with the CyProb whatsoever!

It’s actually incredibly stupid to assume that Cyprus in 1974 had a NATO expansion crisis!

So just take your computer back and tell them you’re too stupid to own one!

Come on GR you are aware that 74 was about dividing Cyprus so it can be under the control of NATO via the back door. One side from Greece and the other from Turkey. At the root of the Cyprus Problem was NATO expansion.

You can go back to 1947 when the Yanks created the "Deep State" groups which had the mission to stop left wing parties coming to power and falling under the influence of the Soviets.

Can anybody explain how Greece is in NATO and yet so friendly with Russia?

Yes this.
A bit more to the issue:
The Americans feared Makarios was turning to the communist block, and started calling him the "Fidel Castro of Mediterranean". Just because he bought riffles from Czechoslovakia. The CIA was the real government in Greece pulling the Junta by the nose.
The stationed in Greece CIA, the Junta, and Turkey agreed to let Turkey take a certain part of Cyprus (Famagusta and some other areas excluded), Greece would take the other, both parts joining the "motherlands", so both parts would end up in Nato and everybody's dream for Enosis with Greece and Turkey would come true.
This plan was known to the top Greek military in Cyprus. The truth revealed itself when while the Turks were already at Kyrenia's shore the Greek top militia men at GEEF refused to allow the GC militia to fire telling them the Turks were on military exercise!! Hundreds of testimonies about that.
The war started when GC military men decided to ignore these orders.

Eventually the Turks cheated on the agreement taking more than what was agreed, the Greek junta fell within a few days for their stupidity, Makarios as well as all GCs reacted rejecting the result as invasion and occupation, and here we are.

No it would simply struggle Russia. The slightest incident at the borders would start WWIII, at which the nukes would only be 450Km away from Moscow. Putin claims this war will save Europe from the risk of an otherwise unavoidable WW3.
In any case what's wrong with Putin's demand to have a buffer of neutral countries between Russia and Nato?

Sorry, but you're wandering into the CT Twilight Zone there. And - from long, long experience - I've learned you can't reason with a fundamentalist Conspiracy Theorist.

Really - what sort of response is that?

Sorry Pyrpo but your posts aren't, certainly in part, making much sense. Do you mean "strangle" :?

I'll give you credit though. That's a new twist on "Putin our saviour". His invasion of Ukraine is apparently to save us all from WW3. I'm sure what must now be the tens of thousands of Ukranians killed and the millions who've fled their country will understand and appreciate their suffering has all been in a good cause.

What's happening in Ukraine is the clearest example of why NATO membership has been so attractive to the old Warsaw Pact countries.

I don't think anybody answered my earlier question. Does anyone agree with:

Get Real! wrote:I’m starting to smell a rat… which is what’s delaying their capitulation. He may well have to nuke!

Get Real! wrote:You just don’t get it… if Putin is to go down then everyone must go down with him.

Get Real! wrote:It’s imperative for mankind that Russia smashes the Zionist’s hornets’ nest that they’ve built up in the Ukraine.

Nothing should be left standing… nuke it, and then onto America!

We’ve got to smash the Zionist evil that has taken over our lives or we’re doomed and Vlad Putin is our only hope!

To me it's simple. These are the words of a lunatic.

What's your view? Aside for an evasive generalisation along the lines of "it takes all sorts". Agree with them? Yes or no.

Let’s suppose two of them agree and four disagree. Then what?

Therefore, kindly abandon your ever-escalating obsession and stick to the topics at hand that matter.

Twilight what?

Lets go to the beginning shall we.

What were the Stay Behind Groups in 1947?
Who created them?
Which countries were involved?

Err............................. no.

It's not an obsession. Although I will give you credit. You're certainly an expert on that condition.

You've expressed appalling, digusting views about Ukraine on many occasions. You are obviously enjoying the war immensely. Above is just a selection. Some of the gems. I'm surprised you haven't picked up on your Russian friends habits and simply deny, try to blag your way out of it.

You seem to regard the idea of the use of nuclear weapons as not only desirable but essential. "That'll teach 'em!". Clearly, eagerly anticipating it.

You sir are not a well man and I will continue to highlight that, whilst you spend all of your days on the internet self-radicalising, acting as a useful idiot and, as a loyal Troll, pumping out Russian propaganda, verbatim.

Basically. You can just suck it up.
