In case you didn’t know, Ukraine is not a NATO member. It applied and was vetoed by NATO in joining. So to be precise, as it stood, NATO did not want Ukraine as a member, at least for now. Why did NATO not want them? Probably because they did not want to antagonise the Russians.

Probably because adding Ukraine is riskier for all parties, (Ukraine, Europe, Russia and the US) than the benefits of Ukraine becoming a member.

So the objective of NATO is not to encircle Russia, or to start a WW3 and attack Russia.

The clear objective of NATO is defence from the kind of action Ukraine is subjected to.

So, adding Ukraine will trigger Russia to take action and then that would invoke NATO's Article 5. And everyone will, have to fight Russia..is that what you want
?

Secondly, Ukraine can not be denied it’s sovereign right to forge ahead with alliances of its choice and to join the EU.

It can, the members can veto her accession.

If for instance it still wants to join NATO then no one could actually blame them for that desire. There is clearly a need for their own security to join NATO. Whether NATO lets them join is of course another matter.

For their own security, but that jeopardises everyone else's. The reason why Russia is taking action, is because Ukraine wants to joint nato. If Ukraine remained neutral, none of this would be happening. They want to join nato, but, it is Best for everyone if Ukraine remained neutral. Joining nato is not Ukraines right and nato is not obliged to accept Ukraine if it jeopordazies everyone else's safety..

Which brings me back to Cyprus. I think it’s time for Cyprus to follow in Ukraine’s footsteps. You are behaving like a NATO country anyway and an EU country and have placed sanctions on Russia. And so you should. So Pootin does not like you to say the least.

I know that Max. NATO has already vetoed Ukraine's application.

Ukraine is however free to decide to pursue its NATO membership and to also join the EU.

No it’s completely over Paphitis... the Ukraine will no longer have such “freedoms” and adventures.

Russia has spent a lot of money and sacrificed blood to control the Ukraine, so it’ll be a peaceful coexistence with Russia and no more foolish adventures.

Good old fashioned family values will be instilled back into their society URGENTLY, to take the Ukraine back to the God fearing and family-oriented country that it used to be.

Putin does God’s work, while NATO does Satan's work.

As a father of young children it's high time you picked sides that are in your children's interests.

Looks like its over for Pootin.

How he intends to survive this is a mystery unless he plans to not even leave the Kremlin.

What a coward.

Russia just exposed their weaknesses for the world to see.

I don't know what you are seeing, but it looks like Russia has failed dismally! As I predicted.

Russia military piss operation has been botched to say the least. Russians are losing badly.

Russia has embarrassed itself Get Real. Get over it.

They need to get their troops out before more Russians get killed in a foreign land. Ukraine will fight for years if they have to. So Russia has no chance.

Putin is no doubt public enemy number one in many peoples opinion but zelensky is making a lot of mistakes.

The US want to flood Ukraine with weapons to fight Russia because they are on the decline and they are trying to preserve their global hegemony. They don't want to get involved directly though.

This is another one of their proxy wars and the Ukrainians are deluding themselves that they are fighting for their freedom. Russia doesn't want to be there but because they are, Ukrainians are forced to defend themselves.

They are not losing on the battle field paphitis.

Their economy is in better shape than Ukraine’s too.

they are losing the information and global public opinion war only.
