This "genius" has just fallen into the west's trap and is going to be stuck in the Ukraine for the next 10yrs. This will keep him contained and away from his next target Moldova. In the meantime the west will begin the Russian drain. The Russians have never felt or seen this before. Food shortages, appliances, aircraft maintenance, factory closings...this will all be felt heavily on the population. Russia will be drained of human and economic capital, good move Putin.
DT could you please inform the audience in what currency will the Germans Italians et all pay Gazprom for their supplies of gas? Note that Gazprom Bank has not been sanctioned, gas supply from Russia has not been cut off. Maybe you could also enlighten us HOW they will pay, as from what we all know SWIFT has been banned to them. Cash?
NB. This is kind of a rhetoric question, but your reply will help spin up some dead brains.
There was an interesting article in yesterday's DT. It mainly concerned how for some time Russia has been quietly buying and illicitly shipping out gold from Sudan mainly but also a couple of other African countries. Such that they now have a significant stockpile of the stuff. They've been assisted in this by the activities of their Wagner group, enabling a sympathetic Sudanese warlord to gain and hold on to power in the country. As well as the gold there have been moves into cryptocurrency and the Chinese Yuan. This has been going on quietly for quite some time, in order to build up a hedge against any sanctions.
All of that is principally to fund any war effort and the State payroll. Nothing causes more trouble of course than your soldiers or civil servants not being paid.
That IMHO doesn't detract from the points that DT makes. You only have to skim through any business tome to understand the weight of what's being inflicted upon ordinary Russians. For them it's 1998 all over again.
Interesting speculation in today's press. That Putin may impose martial law in Russia, thus giving him the opportunity to round up all the notable trouble makers.
LR that does not answer my question. The question was in what currency, and by which method will Gazprom get paid for it's gas supplies to Europe. And one more question. What % of Russia's GDP is that?
On the rest of your comments:
Sure we all know the Russians stockpiled gold and FX reserves 50% of which have now been seized in Western countries.
However this is totally irrelevant in how Russia will handle the state payroll. Russia is self sufficient in almost everything, and the state payroll is not in foreign currency but in Rubles. The Ruble did not lose absolutely anything from it's internal value, it buys and will continue to buy the exact same amount of bread, rent the same kind of apartment, pay the exact same KWH of electricity, literally everything that's produced internally.
But I need a reply to my question to DT to elaborate further.
I don't expect you to accept the term "Empire of lies" for the west, but that's a very accurate term for me. I will have to think what kind "Empire of..." Russia is some other time though.
