This war did not need to start and could have been stopped anytime. There is a reason why nobody in the west is calling for a ceasefire. Russia already said they are willing to negotiate. The west does not want this war to end.

...i like this guy; his analysis is informative.

...indeed, even without training, it will take weeks to get these soldiers to the frontlines; tens of thousands perhaps, months for that much more.

Ignorant people listening to more ignorant people.
Firstly Russia has a total of 25 million reservists.
300K is only 0.2% of Russias' population or 1% of it's reservists
Secondly, there are whole queues waiting to be enlisted whereas they reject anyone who wants to enlist without been summoned.
Thirdly people who already served don't need more that 10 days maximum training refreshment.
This is not high level Algebra...
Most weapons -personal riffles, mortars, even anti tank weapons, are made so that even the most dumb person will be able to use them. Heavy weapons like tanks and artillery only need 1 person to know how to operate it, the rest out of 6-10 crew are just doing supporting work like loading shells, do the watch etc.
At least 1/3 of the total, like drivers, infantry, snipers, don't need any additional training at all...

Yes but

If - as GR says - the Russians have only lost 15000 in the past 8 months and the Ukranians 250,000 - why do they need to call up reservists? :?

Actually - they have 2 million reservists. Not that I'm suggesting that's a number to be trifled with. Just pointing out who constitutes the "ignorant" around here.

The rest of your last post is similar bollocks actually. Perhaps the Russians have been doing it all wrong and you should pop up and sort it all out?

I think he’s full of shit and estimate Russia’s dead to be between 12k and 15k... which is still very good considering the Ukraine's 250k+.

If they’ve only lost 15k in 8 months of continuous combat Ops and the Ukrainians a quarter of a million - why do you think Putin wants to mobilize 300,000 men? Presumably that’s men taken out of the economy.

Sorry for not keeping up. I'm not ignoring posts but "life" intervenes.

Anybody want to pick up on this? It doesn't make sense. If the Russians have only suffered 15,000 deaths in 8 months and the Uranians a quarter of a million - why has it become necessary for Putin to order a massive mobilisation? :?

Massive mobilization??
I am not in the mood of answering questions to a spastic ignorant. If you want answers find them yourself. Hints:
1)Who else, other than Putin made a speech yesterday?
2)How many reservists did Ukraine mobilize out of it's 7.5 million unemployed male?

You are it seems never in the "mood" to answer any questions from me on the thread subject. Particularly awkward ones. That, because of course you clearly don't have any answers. Instead you attempt - and fail - to conjure up clever put downs in order to avoid them. You seem nowadays to be resorting to the cut 'n' pasting of long, boring propaganda articles. Well, the TLDR type actually.

Clearly the numbers are ridiculous. If the Russians had only lost 15k from their day one total of almost 200,000 there would be no reason to resort to the desperate measure of mobilising a third of a million reservists (more, if you read the wider press). It's a total absurdity and just a small extension of the laughable statement Shoigu made yesterday of 6000 dead. Which, incidentally, is the official government figure. He was quoting that. So, it wasn't at all a case of his being personally "full of shit". I would point out that if somebody as senior as him would tell such a blatant lie then what are the rest of them capable of. The answer though is obvious to anybody not of the useful idiot sheep type. Baaaaaaaaa!

Do - try to - grow up:

Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
Active personnel 1,000,000
Reserve personnel 2,000,000
Expenditures
Budget US$61.7 billion (2020–21)

WWII buffs may recall the beautiful German anti-aircraft beast “Flakpanzer Gepard”…

https://mil.in.ua/en/news/another-6-gep ... m-germany/

The bald German baboon has been sending these WWII relics to the Ukraine to “defend” itself from... maybe choppers and some low-flying drones at best!

But Nazi-adoring Ukies probably won’t be complaining... they revere such memorabilia. :)
