I do not understand why you say it is vague. I met a person who lived in Moscow for several years and passed on the information I heard. It really is not that hard to find out what I was told about that time is true or not.

By the way, it was not just water, it was hot water. There is a difference.

It's vague because it is something you heard from somebody, somewhere or other and - like a lot of your posts - is unsubstantiated. Which doesn't detract from my point. What has whether Russians got free hot water in Gorbachev's time got to do with this thread?

FWIW, I know somebody who was a Project Manager on a major petrochemical effort in Russia and lived there for 3 years travelling widely as part of his job. He's told me that once you get outside the metropolitan suburban areas you are basically into a feudal environmemt. Even in the cities (his permanent abode was in Moscow for the duration) nothing works. Getting a plumber in who knows what he's doing to fix a problem is a major achievement.

However you try to spin it, what's happening in Ukraine is Vladimir Putin's responsibility alone. Those tens of thousands of Ukrainian deaths are down to him. To criticise Trump as a fascist and support Putin demonstrates what a total hypocrite you are.
