I don't think so Pyro, things are about to get worse with the moves Nato is doing. They are about to start supply of offensive weapons to Ukraine. They will not rest till Ukraine is completely destroyed.

I don’t think Kiev was ever Russia’s goal to capture. It was a way to make pretend so that major Ukrainian forces can be taken away from the eastern part to protect the capital, which it has always been Russia’s objective to capture and shut out the rest of Ukraine from the Black Sea. For weeks Russian tanks stood idle on the road to Kiev when the west was gloating that the tanks ran out of fuel or broke down or the Russians were just walking away from them because they were against the invasion. This was all made up by west’s myth to increase the Ukrainian soldiers morale. After the Russians withdrew voluntarily , the west celebrated as a victory for Ukraine. Whatever!

Well, that's what the affiliated to Russia unofficial media say. They even described it as a triumphant strategy. The official Russian thesis though as expressed by Lavrov was that their withdrawal was an agreement with the Ukrainians as a gesture of good will.
Those areas were almost as much in size as the Crimea and Kherson region under their current control. FCS did that agreement include the withdrawal from Chernihiv and Sumy area and all other areas close to Kiev to the East??? They are now struggling to encircle Kharkiv which could be a piece of cake had they not abandoned the Sumy area...

Therefore in this particular case, the Russians simply miscalculated and it's clear to me we have to rely on the Western media version of events. Which basically says the Russians assumed Kiev would fall within days and the Russians would simply change the Government and everything would be easily agreed from there on.

On a side note have you ever heard an invading force ever abandoning territory as a gesture of good will?

Ukraine is going to try and get their territory back which means they will begin to attack Russian territory and Russians will hit back which ever way is possible. I suspect they will use missiles not only to hit military posts everywhere but also government buildings in reprisal.

Summer approaching is the time to gain territory with tanks.

I cannot see it stopping anytime soon.

I am often puzzled with the situation on the ground, because if you look in Google there's huge agricultural land between small villages in which the Russians could easily advance without much resistance from the Ukrainians.
It looks the reason is the famous "mud of Ukraine" in which the tanks can't move. So you are most probably right that we might see drastic developments as Summer is approaching.
