Not something that will bother those thoroughly enjoying this “special military operation” but for the record (of suffering):

I believe you will find that overwhelming majority of Cypriots have experienced being refugees themselves in their own country as well as fleeing their country to abroad as victims of war in Cyprus in the last 50+years. I also believe no Cypriot takes pleasure in seeing many Ukrainians being in similar situation now. Analyzing the war in Ukraine does not make those insensitive to the blight of the victims of war, and to suggest otherwise, it is very insulting at the very least.

Some weeks back, when I raised the issue of the tide of Ukrainian refugees - it being “only” 4 million at that point - GR responded with something along the lines of they were getting what they thoroughly deserved and why should he care? At the time his narrative was littered with references to them being “Baboons” getting “Bitch slapped”. I suggest that amounts to insensitivity. No? And before some totally hypocritical “rule” is raised the man’s contributed the vast majority of posts to this thread so it’s stones and glass houses. Or, to put it another way. “Getting what he thoroughly deserves”.

Your confusing analyzing with supporting. If you think Putin’s invasion of Ukraine hasn’t had whole-hearted support from some in here, consequences for the Ukraine population clearly deemed irrelevant, then you obviously haven’t been following events. How does that measure up to “insensitivity to the blight (sic) of the victims of war”? It’s been nothing short of hooting ‘n’ roaring for the Russian “team”. Despite the fact it’s been an embarrassing disaster for their military (day 57 FFS).

What’s truly insulting is the treatment of this tragedy as it being some sort of enjoyable spectacle, coupled to a constant, surreal campaign to try and make Russia appear the victim. That whilst almost daily attempting to shift the blame for events to just about anyone else.

I find this a little ironic, that Great Britain took part in the 1936 Olympics under Hitler’s Nazi government, but now refuses to allow entry of Russian and Belarussian tennis players from participating at Wimbledon in June because of the war in Ukraine. So the question begs to be asked is, how does democracy and freedom of speech work in the UK and elsewhere where they claim to be champion protectors of democracy which they claim it being cornerstone of their institution, and yet, Russian players are banned from sports, music and other cultural events.

Is it true then that it was Ukrain who invaded Russia, then the ...criminal West came to Russia's aid and in turn invaded Ukraine.
It is indeed such a human tragedy more so with thousands of little children suffering. How on earth can any sane human can rejoice at the suffering of Ukrainians ?
Let's hope that it soon comes to an end.

You still have not explained what would have happened to the TCs in Cyprus once the fascists were in control. But of course behind it all is your favourite nation USA. Even Ukraine the USA is behind it all.

Long live USA right?

But stand to attention when you say that you treacherous old man.

Feel free to start and maintain the dedicated thread… "The plight of Ukrainian refugees", and quit giving us a headache because we’re not the Red Cross!
