Both Russia and America have Nuclear weapons and yet there is no deterence. What a waste of time spending billions a year on them. Just think how much more could be done for the people if that money was put to good use.
Having heard our glorious BoZo give his address Ukraine will be fine because he is behind them and he is praying for them. So they must have god on their side too.
Ukraine doesn't have nuclear weapons. It gave them up to Russia in return for guarantees over its territorial integrity and sovereignty. This was even supported by the USA that they give up their nuclear arsenal in return for guarantees from the US.
What a mistake that turned out to be.
They should have kept them.
Nuclear bombs don't last for ever you know, and the Ukranians didn't have either the expertise or the resources to maintain them, neither did they have operational control over them. The ability to detonate and use them was ALWAYS with Russia.
Bulkshit they didn’t have the expertise.
They had hundreds of scientists working on the USSRs nuclear industry if not thousands.
And those nuclear weapons are still in Russia’s arsenal.
If there was ever a country that had all the infrastructure and expertise at the time, it was Ukraine. They decided to abandon the weapons for peace and stability and just not be provocative, and they did it for promises of security from Russia, US and UK.
You mean like they had the expertise for Chernobyl?
Nice try but Chernobyl was under the USSRs watch.
But yes, Ukrainians were very much involved in the USSR’s nuclear programs, from civil electricity generation right through to military applications
They could have very easily have been a nuclear power if they wanted to.
It’s certainly a hell of a lot easier for Ukraine than it is for Australia which is working towards its nuclear power fleet of submarines in collaboration with the US and U.K. who have to nurture and provide Australia with these new capabilities.
