A mere 200,000 in number have overrun a country defended by one million plus Nazi-fanatics armed to the teeth, with countless arms & ammo replenishments arriving daily from like three dozen countries!
That’s one for the history books, a true story of tenacity and valor and one that military colleges the world around will no doubt be studying and talking about Russian tactics in the Ukraine for a very long time!
Kudos to the Russian fighting spirit!
Sorry to interrupt this - what's become - mutual admiration back-patting thread but:
Are we talking about the same war here? Cos if so, whilst I admire your tenacity and fanatical dedication to the cause, you must be having a larf.
Back here on Earth:
Standing military personnel: Russia - 900,000. Ukraine - 200,000.
Attack aircraft: Russia - 1328. Ukraine - 146.
Helicopters: Russia - 478. Ukraine - 42.
Armour (MBTs and APCs): Russia - 31,000. Ukraine - 5000.
Black Sea deployable ships: Russia - 605 (70 subs). Ukraine - 38 (no subs).
We're about to hit 2 months into this invasion. Sorry, "special military operation" and - have I got this right? - all continues to go exactly in accordance with Putin's (blessings be upon his name) chess-master plan? Or, have things perhaps turned out to be a teeny bit more difficult than anticipated?
The Russian Army's performance has been lamentable and I imagine very reassuring to any interested parties observing. Claims of their losses are a variable feast of course but the more sober, non-conflict related, agencies (the spin in here makes you dizzy at times) are saying that they've lost a significant percentage of their armoured assets and an eye-watering number of personnel. That, from what should have been a week's walk-over. Mostly it seems due to poor leadership and logistical ineptness. The Finns and Swedes must be quaking in their boots at the very idea of even thinking of joining NATO. The law of unintended consequences?
Don't let me stop you praising the glorious Russian army though (as if). They're certainly chalking up quite a body and displaced civilians/refugee count. Please................................ admire away.
