I touched on this a while back going along with what is written in your link, that Russia using “kid gloves” around Kiev was a ruse to pin down great deal of Ukrainian forces to protect the Capital while Russia was making gains where it is important around the Black Sea coastline.

This makes sense why Russia has concentrated most of the war in the South along the Black Sea. More and more, the mostly inactive Russian military close to Kiev is becoming a ruse to keep most of the Ukrainian military there to protect the capital while it tries to cut Ukraine completely off the Black Sea. I personally don’t care about *that* much detail of war... I’m just a general-purpose global affairs armchair amateur analyst (nice title!), so how exactly Russia does it… I don’t really care for as long as they get the job done asap!

In the army I was just an infantry sergeant who then got demoted to corporal for chasing after pussy too much... I'm not ashamed to admit!

So having never attended junior officer academy, the “art of war” is definitely not my forte.
