On the first day of invasion, there were about 14000 arrests in Moscow of anti Pootin and anti war activists.

It seems to me that not all is ok within Russia. If there were 14000 arrests, then there are literally millions of Russians against Pootin and against the Ukraine War, mostly younger Russians.

Now, even with the media black out, Russians still have access to western media, facebook, twitter and other social media outlets like Instagram through VPNs. It's usually the younger and more tech savvy that would go to this trouble. so many Russians are indeed well inform, despite all the challenges they face. And many are against Pootin. Some are brave enough to sopeak out and get arrested. Most are not as they may hold jobs in the public sector or in an area where they can be affected.

In my view, Russia is on a knife edge. It may see civil disobedience on a scale never seen before. Especially if these sanctions take hold and effect the people.

The standard of journalism is exceptional. They deserve our support. Sadly, the lives of these journalists and this outlet are under threat and could be declared to be a "terrorist and/or extremist organisation"

Clear hoax!! I web page cannot be down and at the same time ask for donations !!

Yes I saw that, but I'm still getting content they just only uploaded 3 hours ago.

Or, they could be already taken down in Russia but are hosting their website overseas and still posting news content for the rest of the world.

But they most certainly are being targeted by Russian Authorities. but for the time being, I'm still getting content.

It certainly isn't a hoax.

Free independent outlets are being targeted in Russia. And I saw a news piece where Meduza was sent an official notice that it will be declared a terrorist organisation by the Moscow Attorney General.

Here is their link: https://meduza.io/en

They are still on air right now. I don't know if they are still on air in Russia.

Their content is excellent as well. They are worth checking out.

Meanwhile…

“Italy seizes €530m superyacht”

The Italian government has systematically embarked on property thefts of private individuals. I think this is the 4rth luxury boat they’ve pinched that I've read about.

This is an extremely disappointing behavior by a country I once admired.

The right to own property is actually enshrined by alleged western HR values!

The right to property, or the right to own property (cf. ownership) is often classified as a human right for natural persons regarding their possessions. A general recognition of a right to private property is found more rarely and is typically heavily constrained insofar as property is owned by legal persons (i.e. corporations) and where it is used for production rather than consumption.[1]

A right to property is recognised in Article 17 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,[2] but it is not recognised in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights or the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.[3] The European Convention on Human Rights, in Protocol 1, article 1, acknowledges a right for natural and legal persons to "peaceful enjoyment of his possessions", subject to the "general interest or to secure the payment of taxes."

The West has started to defecate all over HR values!

This behavior is nothing short of a regression of a civilization.

And that's only the beginning.

The net is closing on all Russian Oligarchs. Even Abramovich is running with the sale of Chelsea.

Soon, we will be chasing these henchman to the 4 corners of the world like we were doing to NAZIs who were hiding in Latin American countries.

Their ill gotten fortunes belong to the Russian people.

Have you ever heard of a western President who gained a fortunte of over 200 billion?

What a strategy! 8)

145 million but still just the size of Texas in terms of GDP.

In other words, Europe will sell more luxury cars in Texas than Russia and the buying power of the average Texan is much greater than the average buying power of Russians.

Russia is just a little minnow.

Are you suggesting that GDP and standard of living is the same thing?
Here's a clue for you: After the war is over Russia's GDP in US$ will be zero!
Will their Standard of Living be zero too??

“Israel denies urging Ukraine to heed Russia's demands”

The truth of the matter is that Russia has Israel by the balls so they cannot deviate from Russia’s instructions.

Russia has done so on two fronts…

1. Without Russian permission Israel cannot enter Syrian territory.

2. Russia has recently wedged itself in the Iran nuclear deal preventing Iran from signing anything unless newly inserted Russian demands are met. These are very strategic demands that are very relevant to the fallout with the West.

Israel has no time for the Ukraine and couldn’t care less if they live or die… Israel only cares about Israel so they have no option but to follow Russia’s guidelines.

Israel is probably thinking right now... "Fuck off Ukraine, you're not important enough to be causing me problems and delays with the Iran issue!"

Take an afternoon off and it's - 4 pages later!

Quite a bit of it "My Dad's bigger than your Dad!" playground stuff unfortunately. :(

Here's an interesting picture:

Kviv station.jpg

It was taken in the past week at Kviv station. De-colourised to make the point of it's comparison with so many similar situations in our past.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/crowd ... n-ukraine/

I thought it might be evocative. Perhaps of 1974? Although, that was an abiding tragedy for everybody involved, whereas we have to keep in mind this picture is just of a crowd of "baboons" who are getting "bitch-slapped". They asked for it, after all.

So far 2 million have fled their country.

So what?

Bring on the nukes - that'll teach 'em!
