When you remove American brands from the Russian market not only is America losing a 145 million strong market, but it forces the Russian public to buy LOCAL and that always improves Russia’s balance of trade.
Russia’s BOT was already very healthy (2nd place in 2018)… now I expect it to surge to the world’s top spot if not already there.

Yes, point taken, however, in the short term everyone will pay the price, including those imposing the sanctions, mainly the capitalist USA companies. When the next quarterly earnings start to suffer, they will question whether it was correct for them to jump on the Russian sanctions bandwagon.
I do agree that on the long run, Russia will come out of all this more independent from the west’s sphere of economic and political hegemony.
Most of them have pulled out all their operations from Russia - Apple, Microsoft, Google, McDonalds just to name a few.
Which is excellent, because they are putting human rights, and the interests of Ukraine as a sovereign country ahead of their profits.
And tio be fair, these corporates have only expanded their global appeal for doing that.
Tyhe west has decided to not bankroll Russia's war and assault against the Ukrainian people. It's the right thing to do.
When Australia started to cut off its economic ties with China, you all said Australia will crumble and fall apart. It didn't. It continues to thrive and prosper, and in fact it was China that had all the power outages and energy shortage.
We came through the other end. And the west has done the right thing in regards to Ukraine and Russia, and will likewise survive because we are not the ones who will face up to economic isolation.
