There is hardlyt a maintenance cost.
My house is a 125 year old house. Double bricked with high ceilings and very old school decor which you can't replicate today.
You must get cleaners in, you cant surely let Mrs Mitty do all the dusting and polishing, mopping and window cleaning. My Taj Mahal lookalike is seriously putting a dent in my finances.
At the moment, it's rented out by a business to house an executive.
Don't worry, you couldn't afford it. Way beyond your means.
Care to reveal your net worth? My brother-in-law is a pilot so not totally ignorant what you might be earning.
No. I will not be doing that.
About $1000 bucks.
You tell me your net worth.
Must rush, hospital appointment. Please Paphitis, do something to convince me you are not a total bulshitter. I want to see some positive response from you on my return
Bullshiting about what? My house?
Why would I care. I posted some pics of some of the renovations I have done. But I won't be posting anything more I am sorry.
And the only reason I post such things is because I enjoy being creative. Plus I have very particular tastes. I don't compromise. It's either go hard or don't go at all. There is nothing modern about my house. It remains in its 19th century charm, with all the mod cons added. But windows, ceilings, walls, doors, fretwork are very much as original or replicated. Lot's of woodwark, and a lot of attention to detail.
I could have done aluminium windows for a fraction of the cost but that would have been a crime and also a disaster bvecause I would have ruined the house and also lost a lot more many if I ever sold it, which I don't plan to anyway. My children will be inheriting it.
It's very bueatiful.
It's like buying an old Monaro and restoring it. My house is a very old English Bungalow and has been kept in charactar as a 19th century English Bungalow.
The ceilings alone were actually done by an Englishman, and took 6 months alone.
The windows and doors alone took about the same time. The guy that did those made those made another door you would be very familiar with as well.
It's an old house but it also has all the mod cons. Such as access points, top notch security, and nice open plan living, with French serveries (yeh I know, French in an English Bungalow), massive kitchen, and a butlers walk in pantry and kitchenette that is bigger than most people's bedrooms, pool, cinema, etc etc etc.
The house is almost on the verge of being heritage listed. That means it can never be knocked down.
There are photos I posted on this forum. Just go dig them out. There are some photos of the ornate ciellings and lighting fixtures which again, are not downlights but chandalliers. They cost quite a bit. Could have put normal lighting for a fraction but I kept everything in character. Paid a lot, but it's market value is also worth more because it would fetch a higher price if I sold.
Gardens are English style as well. I did the landscaping myself and did a better job than most pros but I did have ssome help in the design phase from a landscaper we know every well, as well as some helpful advise and tips. A lot of ornamental trees, hedges, and a variety of plant species creating a nice oasis. The only part I didn't do was the automated irrigation system.
Plus, my kids planted their own trees.
I am a very big fan of elegant English Architecture and taste. We really have very elegent architecture in Adelaide. Very English. Anmd in some parts, very German too. You actually think you are in Germany. Places like Hahndorf in the Hills. Walk down the street and the architecture is distinctly German. The church's are Lutheran. The pubs serve German beers. German food. The flag of Germany is flown everywhere. and all the Aussies have German names and heritage.
Bueatiful place Adelaide.
