Pyro. What's your problem? Seriously.

My 3.44pm is I think a reasoned and reasonable response to your    about the Deputy Mayor of Bakhmut's comment that Russia hasn't taken control of his town. I'm sure you'd agree that - whatever happens in the next few days - at the moment they haven't. He's correct. :?

You don't have to be in Bakhmut to know what's going on there. If that were the case - and criteria for credibility on an issue - what value has anything that anybody has to say on this forum? It would all surely be    ?

Would it not be more realistic to ask 'who has the 'advantage' '? What is 'control'? You could say that the police do not have control of London ..... but that doesn't mean the criminals do ! If one Ukrainian with an AK a clip of ammo is still firing ..... does that mean HE has control? I think that is the concept the West and Zelenskey promote.

I would say that with Russian troops and artillery on three sides and the only way in and out of that Caudlron is covered by Russian artillery, then Russia must have the advantage! Or is that to simplistic ?

Greetings. Good luck on Tuesday.

You're trying to entice me into a "debate". Which surprises me, as we both know from long and bitter experience, where it tends to end up.

Nevertheless. I'm sorry, but your post comes across as a bit obfuscating. London police? :?

Pyro was taking the piss out of the Deputy Mayor of Bakhmut because he said Russia wasn't in control of his town - from the comfortable safety of Kyiv (or whatever it's called this week). The simple fact is, you don't have to be in the heat of battle there to know what's going on. Quite the contrary in fact. I repeat. If not being there means you have no credibility talking about related matters what price anything any of us have to say in here? :?

It looks very much as though the town will fall to Russia. Although, as we keyboard warriors pontificate - not just yet. A highly symbolic but I think pyrrhic victory, and a couple of weeks late as an anniversary present for VP's speech.

I don't intend to be a gap filler during Paphitis' absences.

History has lots of examples where high command for non-military reason ask their troops on the ground to sacrifice themselves. Some refuse and some do.

Here is one that refused.

During January 1943 the German position weakened severely, and Paulus requested the chance to surrender, which Hitler refused believing they should fight until death. Hitler then promoted Paulus to field marshal, noting that there had never been a field marshal who surrendered.

Did it make any difference to the outcome of the war when he did?

Here is another that followed orders. Would it make any difference if they did not?

Here is the son of soldier to tell you all about how he lost his Daddy in a song.

Life is too precious to be wasted on a political whim or pride or even to raise the moral of those who are left behind.

Ahhhhh! Rodney Trotter puts in an (ingratiating) appearance!

What are you doing here? Supporting the invader, on a thread involving the deaths of hundreds of thousands, obliteration of entire cities and creation of millions of refugees? It's Saturday. shouldn't you be putting the Swine up against a wall for abusing the working class in La La (aka Swine) Land?

I doubt many "understand" what you say. Which is perhaps why getting a reply - apart from me, Max and RW (brotherly sympathy) - is pretty much a rarity.
