I don't think these are the kind of jobs where one expects a comfortable standard of living, let alone support a family.

When was that???
As far as I know nobody attacked anyone in the RoC. However in the past the TCs were exploited because they had no protection from the Trade unions. Now everything will be arranged by the Trade Unions. 100 applications per hour ain't a little!

But this is the reality Max. These are the consequences of the 2013 crack. In Portugal the salaries for the young are even lower about 600 Euros. In Greece even lower.
This is the salary 90% of our young people get.Qualified ones e.g. Certified accountants, doctors, lawyers start at 1100-1200....

It's going to get worse if 8000 TCS find work in the RoC, and they will be exploited too.

500 euro a month wages and living in the pseudo state goes further.

while the status quo continues, employers in the RoC aren't going to be that inclined to recruit TC over anyone else

This is also the reality.

Btw the TCs got a very distorted view of the economy in RoC. When the gates opened in 2004 they thought we were living like kings all those years.Nobody would beleive we burned our asses in the deserts of Saudi Arabia to survive.
Why? Because in the meantime we discovered the money laundering of the Russians and created a bubble everyone earning minimum 2000 per month. I have statistics, the bubble got it's maximum in 2007. It started deflating from 2007 a bit before Christofias became President. Chistofias didn't realize how fast we were deflating. By 2013 we almost got bankrupt. And then Anastasiades took over, there came the haircut and here we are today. What we are today is the actual economic capacity of the RoC. A bit better than what it was in the 80s when we were spending our best years in the deserts, gamoto.

Yep, people were killed for this or made to run away to exile to save their lives.

I think Erol is refering to the days when TCs were members of PEO and were given an ultimatum to not only leave put put adverts in newspapers saying they no longer were members. Pre 1963.
