It is nothing of the kind. It is turning their backs on humanity. Till the day they make asylum application from safe countries either within their own country or nearby safe country available, there is no such thing as unauthorised asylum seekers/Refugees. They should stop calling these people migrants to begin with. But of course according to UN Refugee Convention, an asylum seeker has to leave their own country before they can do it. Why they are not allowed to make the application in their own country is difficult to fathom.

If they want to stop Refugees leaving their homeland, they simply have to stop supporting the bastards running their homeland. It's no good sometimes even helping the bastards take power and derive the benefit from that and than put your hands up and say "nothing to do with me gov".

“This is a super pragmatic behavior,” said Matteo Villa, a migration expert at the ISPI think tank in Italy. “There has been a change in narrative.”

Given Italy’s rules on family reunification, which allow residents to bring in relatives, “it’s easy to predict that over something like 10 years, these figures will triple,” bringing in about 1.5 million migrants, said Maurizio Ambrosini, a professor of sociology and an expert on migration at Milan’s university.

It is hard to believe we are nearly at the end of 2023 and this sort of thing still goes on.
Where the hell were the police to protect the people?
Dare I ask ho many of these rioters were actually police members?

So they believe Cyprus is Greek right? Wow we even have a few assholes like that on this forum too.

...very good link, thanks Max.

Cyprus is one of the top 10 countries in the EU regarding the number of effective returns of third country nationals to their countries of origin. The return rate in Cyprus is higher than the EU average rate. Since 2020 the number of returns has increased more than 400%.

...it cannot be said that the Government is doing nothing; but the issue still seems overwhelming.

...the "agents" have a lot to do with the deception(s) young ambitious person find themselves entangled in; but they are neither Cypriot for the most part, and, their malice occurs outside of Cyprus' jurisdiction.

...perhaps setting up in Africa, Cypriot Consuls to seek out such bright and energetic people (having some skill and money too); informing and guiding them directly will put a dent in the business of those who do this business now: a matter of cost/benefit analysis i suggest worth looking into.

Unfortunately RW, this is the reality of migration to Europe in general.

These migrants are victims of people smuggling and also from their own ignorance and stupidity.

Just like the lot that drowned in the med trying to get to Greece / Italy.

As we can see from the statistics, 96% of applications for asylum in Cyprus are bogus.

All the tell tale signs from these people are there that they are not genuine asylum seekers.
