Apparently, Aslin has dual nationality, British-Ukrainian and settled in Ukraine with his wife. Where he holds citizenship.

He can officially enlist in the armed forces of Ukraine, thus he should be a prisoner of war now that he has been captured and released as soon as the war ends. Or as part of some prisoner exchange.

But the Russian separatist court (probably kangaroo) have chosen to trial him as a mercenary. Ignoring the fact that he is a Ukrainian citizen, living in Ukraine and that he couldn't avoid being drafted.

Yet nobody was able to publish an image of his Ukrainian passport and/or ID card… surely now would be the right time to do so! :wink:
