I have watched the first 3 episodes so far upon learning it’s existence from your post. That is some serious killings when playing games to win serious money. Then again, Asians are serious gamblers.

A couple of the episodes seemed a bit pedestrian to me. I thought the climatic one was good though. No spoilers, :D

Keep watching. It's outsanding.

But yes, it's graphic and a lot of killing. Not suitable for the kiddies, and probably not to everyone's taste.

But the series had a good storyline and plot. A bit of a thriller.

This production certainly has it all so it's good quality. But there is a lot of killing and gore, so it won't appeal to many.

But what shocked me about this film is that it was my kids who told me about it. Apparently, it's the inn film among kids and when mine fessed up that they watched it, I checked it out and was a bit upset they watched it. So I thought about taking action and reprimanding them, but thought better of it since they told me.

So now I am going to restrict their Netflix access discreetely because the last thing I want is for it to look like is that I am punsihing them. It will only result in them going more covert.

My good friend also told me his kids did the same thing. :?

I tell you, in this digital age, you need eyes on the back of your head. :?

So much to look out for as kids nowadays get spoilt with tablets and other gadgets and video games.

Quality doesn’t always translate as success at the box office these days in the age of Netflix.

People don’t go to the cinema as much anymore.

And the Americans don’t spend 159 million to make 7 million. They are making the money from selling the rights to Netflix and other platforms like it.

The Americans like everyone else would do everything possible to minimise loss.
This movie clearly ended up with a loss for the studio, despite the 105 million Netflix injection not only because of the production costs but for the additional 90 million costs for marketting and promotion for the Oscars.

And the Irishman is certainly VERY high quality

It’s on Netflix now. This is where I watched it. And it’s in the top 10. On a platform that has over a billion subscribers globally.

Talking of American films, here is a film you will enjoy. Unfortunately it is not in English. Hell or High Water

Cinemas have been on the verge of bankruptcy here in Australia. Most have not been allowed to operate. This due to the pandemic of course.

But even then, we also have things like Netflix, Stan, HBO and Disney. The cinema is now in our living rooms.

And the Irishman is actually got the top spot on Netflix. It’s not surprising with the all star cast and it also appeals to the Scarface, Godfather and Goodfellas fans, such as myself. You can’t get better quality than this movie.

This movie won’t be losing any money. It’s a profit making venture and the producers will make millions in profit.

Before Netflix, they relied on the box office more. But today, I don’t think that’s even anywhere near as relevant as it use to be because of all the subscription services. They’ll make 159 million from Netflix alone in royalties.

I haven’t been to a cinema since the outbreak of Covid. So the landscape in cinematography has changed. Revenues at the box office would be a fraction of what they were pre Covid. And the box office now has the subscription services to compete with as well which would be cutting into their revenues even before Covid. The Americans know what the market is doing and how to exploit it and how to exploit the evolving landscape. Hence why they have Netflix. They own it and took us all down that road.

The industry they have there is by far the most advance. And it also has the largest market penetration by far. Exceeding anything by the French, Koreans and anyone else for that matter. The only other country that may enjoy similar penetration is not France, UK or Korea, but probably India. Maybe Bollywood can kind of come close in terms of market penetration but I can’t see anyone else competing with Hollywood. I know they are the second largest and growing at a rapid pace.

The Americans have a very tight grip across the globe. Also in Cyprus as well. The Americans rule the roost. All you have to do is ask Cypriot Youth what movies they watch and would like to see. 9 times out of 10, it’s American content. Not French, nor Korean nor British or Australian.

Yes, I’ve enjoyed watching that.

I’m glad my wife did not catch me watching it or else I would have been in the “dog house” for a while. :D

Definitely not for kids to watch or even mentally unstable adults.

If you got to the very end you will understand that there’s talk of a second series. Although, quite how that could be weaved around the main character, given the first series, is a mystery to me. :?

Must have missed the talk.

But I could never have predicted the ending. I doubt anyone could. An ending with an unusual twist.
