‘The war is over,’ a Taliban spokesman, Mohammad Naeem, told Al Jazeera. “We have reached what we were seeking, which is the freedom of our country and the independence of our people.”

He wishes. It depends on what happens from here on. I cannot see them holding free elections. Sooner or later with 300,000 soldiers plus the police armed may well start attacking Taliban. Now, they are going to become targets, its their turn.

...if as an Emirate it is open to the rest of the world, if it demonstrates the capacity to move forward regarding the Rights of Individuals without discrimination, they will survive.

...Biden's reply.

You are quite right though, the story is not ending, but the Taliban having what they want, the world is focused on them and what they will do.

...there may not be elections, but women and children will be treated with respect, (in the Civil world) they will at least be afforded the same recognition as men.

The Taliban Emirate is not to be compared to the one known as UAE. Completely different.

Under the Taliban, women and girls, have no future or the sdame recognition as men. We will witness slavery all over again.

I'm surprised you can't see that.

...perhaps you should reread what i said, in reply to Lordo; we shall see if they have learned something since their last foray at Leadership.

Indeed, the world is watching; their relationship with China now will blossom, but without the rest of us: we'll see.

We are already getting reports RW from very brave women inside Afghanistan who no doubt risk their lives talking to Western Media and journalists.

Chy-na is an opportunistic coiuntry. They don't care of the suffering of the Afghan People. When they themselves are committing genocide inside Chy-na against the Uighars, then what do you expect. China isn't some country to pin any moral compass on.

And yet it appears also that we the West don't have a moral compass either for abandoning and betraying millions of Afghans to a terrible fate. I expect a lot more from the US and its allies...
