Was it not Taliban that allowed Al Qaeda to wage war against Americans? Have they fallen out? When?

In reality Taliban and the Americans are singing from the same hymn sheet. They really should not be fighting. After all it was the americans who helped them by training them and arming them when they were fighting against the Russians, when the Afghan people enjoyed complete freedom like any other western state. America helped overthrow the government and repace it with Taliban. You cannot make it up.

The Taliban do not have the same world view. This, is the big difference.

In effect they are Afghani, whereas Al Qaeda is stateless as a political idea and a threat to anyone not like "them".

The Taliban will face Al Qaeda likely, in a Civil War, where it is the Taliban that will try to hold Afghanistan together while their adversary (and their allies) will want it in pieces (read: pieces of it).

...a new "security zone", for Turkey, (and Iran and Pakistan).

Not at all RW. Whilst their objectives are different, their view of Islam is the same. Despite what America has done to Afghanistan since 9/11 I have seen no reports of fighting between them. If anything they use them as spare force when needed.

What will be interesting is what General Dostum does in the short term whether he decided to join the Taliban or fight against them. It will soon be apparent.

While the troops are there, Turkey is bringing back soldiers from Afghanistan to trsain them. Thats not that different to what they did in Cyprus back in early 60s. BTW god heelp them if they spil lblood of a single soldier. Turkey will claim Afghanistan and will never leave. If you thought Turkey was going to just send 500 soldiers to guard the airport think again.

Afghanistan has become a graveyard for many powers who went there without the invitation of the Taliban. Turkey will be added to that list if they insist of being there without the Taliban’s OK. Then again, Erdogan has suggested that Taliban’s views and Turkey’s are the same. :D

Great, a NATO member Turkey shares the same views as the Taliban.

If that is the case, Taliban will roll out the Red Carpet for Turkey any day now. :D

You must realise that if America did not actually train and arm Taliban they would not have defeated the Afghan Government backed by Russia. They started supplying them with shoulder held ground to air missiles against the planes and helicotpers. That was what defeated the Russians not the prowess of Taliban as per say.

That is all true Lordo, but that was 1000 years ago (slight exaggeration) and since then, the Taliban has received enough help from others to make sure America left Afghanistan after 20 years with loss of thousands of American lives and Billions of $$$$$$s. Why wouldn’t the same happen against Turkey, especially when Turkey has very little experience moving great number of forces and equipment, even more especially to a landlocked country across few other countries borders and airspace’s? There are many countries who would love to see Turkey get a bloody nose in the hands of the Taliban, the same countries who would no doubt lend a covert support to the Taliban to do just that.

...indeed the Taliban want Afghanistan alone. They do not want to change the world; that's the difference.
